Default I've tried everything! at the end of my tether!

I have been trying for MONTHS to get a single .iso file to play in my ps2.

Okay background information. I have a Slim PS2, and SM 3.6, my disk drive can burn dvds. I have Alcohol 120%, DVD Decrypter and IMGBurn. The .iso file I am trying to burn is Klonoa 2, Lunatea's Veil - from the NCST region, although I am from the pal region. I don't understand this to be a problem, as I've tried with the Pal region .iso too.

I have tried to use Vertabrim DVD-R discs at speeds up to and including 4x. I have tried TDK DVD-RW discs at speeds upto and including 4x. Now I have TDK DVD+R, with speeds of 1-16x, but it is seemingly only possible to burn it at 6x, 8x, 12x and 18x. I have tried 6x and 8x, as well as asking IMGBurn to burn the disc at 1x and 4x.

The PS2 will load the SM DVD disc and get it to the Load Program and Video Mode screen. I've tried it on all video settings with both normal and special boot, to no avail.

I am lost as to what to do now...

As far as I recall that game doesn't work with Swap Magic.
I recommend using your SM disk to install Free MCBoot then use ESR to try and boot the game.

The recommended speed for burning PS2 games is half the max speed of the chosen media (usually 8x), on DVD-R.
The best brands of DVD are verbatim and Sony.

Okay, there's a new problem now. I've installed FreeMcBoot and I've burned two copies of Klonoa, one that's NTSC and one that's PAL to TDK DVD+Rs at 8x(Half the maximum speed). I downloaded ESR GUI patcher, I thought that's what I needed to use but the PS2 still wont load the disk.

This is frustrating as I was starting to believe I'd made progress. How do I install the ESR thing, if it's onto the PS2? I've looked for guides all over the net and can't find any - much to my chagrin.

Thanks for all your help though!

The patcher is run on the PC and is used on the ISO prior to burning the game.
The program (.ELF) is run on the PS2, you load it up with Free MCBoot.

Thanks again for being so generous with your time - how do I load it with FreeMcBoot?

If you used the noobie package (which you should have) then the PS2s main menu will have an entry for it.
If not then you'll need to start uLaunchELF (uLE) open the file browser, browse to where you put ESR and hit the button to launch it (default is circle).
