Thread: Cracking sounds during cutscenes.

    Arrow Cracking sounds during cutscenes.

It's been a while since I last used swapmagic (The last time was since before the ps3 came out) Lately I got bored with PC gaming and decided I wanted to play some of my ps2 games again, and found out my swapmagic cd was scratched beyond repair, so I ordered a new one (3.8 CODER, it was only 2 bucks more then the 3.6 version so what the hell) and it plays the games I had from old times just fine, I have burned a game myself however (The others I received from a friend who burned them) and I'm not sure where I messed up but all the cutscenes (Which look fine, and play at regular speed) have very bad sound quality, with pauses and cracks, the game itself doesn't have this problem however.

The game in question is "Final Fantasy XII Zodiac Job System" which I downloaded from this site, and this thread: http://www.ps3iso.com/ps2-game-downl...34-undubs.html
My PS2 is PAL (Model SCPH-50004 if that matters) and I've used a NTSC - Pal Converter I also found on this site to convert the .iso, because I assumed it was NTSC.

The first time I burned it at x16 speed, then found out about the crappy sound.
I then tried burning it as slow as I was allowed at x4 speed, hoping that would improve the quality, but to no avail.
The funny thing is though, that the sound is fine when I launch the game as NTSC with swapmagic, only it is in black and white then.
So, is there anything I can do to fix it, or do I have to choose between playing it with crappy cutscenes or playing it with color.

The first time you burned too fast, the second time too slow.
The optimum speed is half the max speed of the media, so a disk that has a Max Speed of 16x should be burned at 8x

Ah thanks, I'll try that then, I thought the slower you burned it, the better the quality.
Edit: I tried burning it at 8x, but the results are the same, also tried a different game, but that one has the same problem, audio lag during cutscenes but not during the actual gameplay.

Does it happen on any game or the FFXII only?

Try a laser lens cleaner disk.
If that doesn't do anything then use your SM disk to install Free MCBoot then try using another boot method and see if that helps any.
