I believe that once the PS4 is released, the PS3 will be fully hacked... and by that I mean something like actual version CFW. Sony would focus on the PS4 and wouldn't release patches or updates that frequent nor would they sent mobsters after devs anymore.
PS2 got FMCB also pretty late so its never really over.
I agree that Sony won that one. It took far too long to get the ps3 hacked... and there was practically no follow-up to that hack for a long time. Its nothing like the days when the ps1 and ps2 was released... then it was like BOOM MODCHIP before you even collected all the cash to buy the damn console.

I think a lot of people will be leery about the next playstation after all the hardware and software problems of this gen. and, how sony has handled the ps vita (acting as though it doesn't exist 'cause it didn't sell as well as they'd hoped) and ps3 (removing features). plus, u can't deny sony's twist of the numbers. after all, the ps3 is in the lead this gen if u discount everywhere except a small island in the pacific.

But what's your definition of "hacked"? If you mean being able to play games, well... not really. Dex conversion? 3.60 keys? Just leaks. No hack.

The only reason sony bled though, it was for the psn break through.
Geohot really had what he deserved for delivering an impressive blow, which however has been a bit out of date until this latest keys leak.

Melo, maybe SONY won in the anti-piracy conflict, but you should consider a great damage as regard reputation and success in comparison with PlayStation and PlayStation 2 hardware sales. In my own experience, I used to see the PlayStation brand as a god of videogames, but now I see them as a corporation which launch great titles but has a terrible press and marketing control. Lots of people think the same, is not hard to remember the glorious days when PlayStation was a no brainer choice not only for the games, but for the price.

I agree nick, psx totally ruled back then. But now, ps3 had to face the xbox360 rivalry. That's how I partly explain the loss in sales.
But they've been greedy too, ps3 advertising was way out of line. While playing some games, I can't really see a huge difference compared to the previous generation...

no, my definition of hacked is finding an exploit to allow unsigned code. that is, afterall, what a hack is defined as being. any way of "hacking" your way into the code to gain control. So yes...ps3 was, has been, and always will be hacked, in that sense. I understand there are some models this hasn't made its way to...but honestly, that's not the concern here. we have unsigned code running the same software the other models can run....it's done.

Now, as far as the fact that it's not exactly user-friendly....good. I'm glad it's not at this point. that means I get time to enjoy playing with my console with less people bothering me wanting help. If that came off like I'm being a d!ck, I'm sorry...it's not how I meant it. but think about it like this...senior members who have extensive knowledge in this stuff aren't very common around the scene at this time. That means the few of us that do know it are being HOUNDED by other users looking for help. now don't get me wrong...those that know me best know I'm ALWAYS available to help anyone who needs it. But it's nice to have some peace and quiet time to enjoy playing the games I've missed while not-so-tech-savvy users sit back and wait for a one-click solution. once that happens my inbox will once again be flooded on a daily basis much like the few days following the cex2dex method leak. it's finally slowed down just in the last 48-72 hours....nothing compares to being left alone and having time to relax

I'm all for a nice easy way of switching between bdemu games...honestly though...just considering my personal taste in games, the only game I have on my bdemu drive right now is max payne 3, because that's the only game not playable on 3.55 I want to play at the moment. so I never have to switch default partitions, and I only have to upgrade for that one game, so I upgrade to play it for a day, downgrade for a day so I can play my cfw games on multiman, then switch back to 4.20 again. the work I have to do to play games is as minimal as it can possibly get at this current stage.

I would definitely agree. I only bought a playstation 3 due to the hack (wouldn't have otherwise). I've really grown to hate sony due to their bs and the lack of consequences as a result. it's like an apology is all that's needed for gross incompetence or negligence for their annual mistakes. back in the 90s, sony represented creativity at an inexpensive price; now, sony represents the exact opposite. I really don't know what happened between then and now.

I can't say I've been that impressed by this gen. trophies/achievements r a nice addition, but I don't really care for online. also, too many games r crippled pc ports. I've been an rpg/platformer gamer for the most part, but I think there have only been a couple rpgs that were even decent this gen. I prefer jp rpgs rather over western rpg. some of the once great rpgs, such as final fantasy xiii, r trying to hard to emulate their western counterparts which I personally hate. as for the platformers, many of them r either on steam, or in the case of the ps3, r ps2 compilations.

plus, it really sucks that gaming consoles r becoming entertainment hubs with the gaming component being pushed off to the side. that has become very apparent with the 360.

as for sony, they need to go back to how gaming was during the ps2 era. many gamers seem to be more impressed with processing power, graphics, or capabilities rather than the games themselves.
