does the external hdd need to be formatted? I thought I read somewhere that u can only have one 3.60 game on the hdd at a time unless u partition the hdd up to a total of four for a total of four games. is that true?

Ok, sorry guys but i havent been up to date with all this DEX stuff. How exactly does DEX allow me to play >3.6 fw games? I already own a TB and would like to compare the functionalities myself.

Yeah, it needs to be formatted and yeah either 1 game or 4 partitions that can store 4 games (1 on each partition) but to change games on that 4 partition hdd, you will need to move hdd back to pc and select active partition in ps3gen.

DEX is still harder to do and use than TB, and doesn't offer that much functionality(we still can't play games if they don't have a debug update, AFAIK), so I'm sticking with my TB for the time being.

same here...
linux; format hdd; 4 games (only the one that have patches) for usb;... until another solution surfaces... will still keep True Blue.
Remenber, DEX users: all future games that come with 4.2x firmware still not gonna run on 4.11 DEX...
On Setember i see what options there are...

People who were so desperate to pay for a dongle will make up any **** excuse that is in their mind for having paid for it in the first place, so this is not surprising - it's their ego and their e-peen on the line here.

That's assuming that True Blue was anything other than a lazy piece of **** ripoff and they can still deliver the goods now that CEX-2-DEX is going to be patched. All I can say is - 'don't count on it'.
Oh BTW - you still assuming that 'True Blue' isn't going to make you buy another dongle for new games is what's especially hilarious. It's like PT Barnum said: "There's a sucker born every minute".

When DEX offers a "better" solution than TB does and doesn't involve people risking a brick, formatting, etc., then and only then is TB no longer any good.
installing a unofficial firmware will always cause a brick, dont make any excuses on it, just buy a flasher and install it and youre ready for modding. You have money to buy a DRM dongle, so I can say that you also had a money to buy a flasher.

All I can say is - if you can't bother putting in some effort and learning a thing or two in the process while converting from CEX to DEX, then you deserve being ripped off by True Blue. Because that's exactly what they're doing - ripping you off and having some fun over it while they collect your money.
Seriously - **** those dongles and I hope the 'scene devs' that were involved will all go to jail for extortion and fraud.
well said dude, you have my respect. and i agree to you, its not really that hard, the only thing you need is a ability how to retype the commands in linux.

The difference is - TB patched games to be played by user friendly means, without linux and such(I do use linux on my PC, but not consoles, since I don't have a USB keyboard, my PC is a notebook), and is an easy to use solution. No matter what you say - for average users, who don't want to brick something, or take the console apart to install a flasher(which for FATs requires to be soldered mind you, and not everyone is good at it, no matter how simple the soldering is), TB will still be a better solution until DEX conversion becomes user friendly.
No matter how much you hate DRM dongles, you won't be able to deny they are MUCH more user and noob-friendly than any kind of DEX conversion available now.
I myself am not in a hurry so I'll be waiting as well.
