Default Rumor: New Version of Dongle to be required for future games?

Reading GaryOPA's thoughts on the last closed thread that went off topic, it seems we have the okay to start a new thread specifically about what was discussed before.

There was a mention from two users that -- according to "supplier contacts" -- the new plan for True Blue is to release a new version of the dongle in order to play more games and to have PSN support.

I figured this deserved its own thread for all the speculation/rumors/thoughts on this, to avoid it seeping into everywhere else.

My two cents: Not sure what this is for. If they made a separate PSN dongle, that's fine. Let them. I don't want to use PSN. But even I -- who have been forced to upgrade several DS carts just to keep developing on DSi/3DS/etc. -- think this is a bad maneuver.

JB King has not yet released anything showing they can support the last round of EBOOTs (SCV, Tekken, etc), so it seems odd they would want to release a new hardware revision.

    Ok just for clarfications sake..
I was talking to a mate who is a reseller of TB amongst other stuff. He said to me TB are releasing a new dongle by the end of the month. He said he was not sure if they were releasing it under the TB name or if they would release it under another name so it wouldnt look like they had just abandoned their current users. He said the new dongle/games would have PSN access. He said the only difference with this dongle is that it had higher security to stop JBK.
I took this 'info' and asked another reseller (bigger one) and he confirmed it.
I dont know what benefit them lying about it would be? They would both lose business because of it..
Who knows though, it could be as Gary said. If another dongle is released in the next say 6 weeks.. well I guess that will speak volumes

I think they are scared cause it might not take much longer until TB gets fully cracked.
    Who knows...

PSN access.!! i'm in!!!! dont care if it plays newer games...although i do a little i was thinking about this and would be waiting to know if this is true. If true blue has complete access to sony's later firmwares, this would confirm it

How are they getting PSN access on it? Sounds too good to be true (blue)← see what I did there?

I'm going to wait and see if The Last Of Us is made available for their dongle, if it is, and they have PSN support, then I may just have to cave and buy one.

The pessimistic side of me, the bit that makes up 99.5% of my brain, is telling me that they're only releasing another dongle so they can get more money by selling the same thing to the same people again for probably more $$$. The other 0.5% optimistic part of my brain is telling me that this could be good if it's true.

The thing that I still don't like about TB is how a few of their games are on BR disk that you have to buy, I hope that they don't increase that number for newer games so they can make even more money.

If this is real, then that could explain why Final Fantasy XIII-2 is missing in action. They're holding it back to release it as a launch title for their new dongle. It's what I'd do.

Excuse me, I'll be in the corner here with my popcorn. Nope, I'm not gloating at all about this ironic circumstance at all.
