sega didnt event supported the saturn and dreamcast when they noticed it was a failure
-
Way to bump a two month old thread now guys. High-Five to everyone

Well I figured the ridiculous amount of discussion in this section of the forum would make up for "bumping a two month old thread"... But I can ask for warez in PS3 sections instead
!
darksergio, SEGA did support both their consoles. They failed in Western countries but a lot of games kept coming out in Japan, which is why both consoles and particularly the Dreamcast are loved by arcade gamers.
And while the Dreamcast might seem like a failure from a market standpoint, it's my favorite console and has one of the strongest line-ups a system's ever had. Soul Calibur, Jet Set Radio, Rez, Power Stone, PSO, Skies of Arcadia, Ikaruga, Space Channel 5, Garou Mark of the Wolves, and so on

I have been revisiting the Gamecube library since I recently hacked my Wii. In retrospect, I think it is the most interesting system of that generation. Yes, it reeked of Dreamcast but Nintendo dared to be different as usual and their games aged the best as well IMO. Smash Bros Melee is still the best looking game of that generation by far, and its so cartoony. They jumped out the gate with Rogue Leader and Eternal Darkness and actually had enough mainstream series like Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia and Resident Evil to not be considered an entirely 'kiddie' system. Sure there was no GTA 3, Halo, or Final Fantasy X and and although these are considered 'classic' by most, they are certainly not groundbreaking. Sandbox, FPS, JRPGs are nothing new. As the OP said, the Gamecube was about plug-and-play and the lack of silly bells-and-whistles is what makes Nintendo the last true gaming console company. Very little load times. J calls me a hipster, but I loved 'Sunshine.' It doesn't do everything, it just plays games.
I also bumped this old thread because I was sick of looking at my sarcastic remark on the other thread being on the forum page.

since im not the one gravedigging i will add my 2 cents
i think the gamecube was an awsome system they had alot of cool games and brought back some classics
Smash Brothers, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Sunshine, Zelda (Shellshaded was Different but still cool)
Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, Resident Evil Zero
i will stop here but i enjoyed the system very much..

Agreed.

The Dreamcast controller is wack, its the obese Saturn Nights controller but with room for a Tomogotchi memory card VMU. It inspired such idiotic controllers as the Xbox 1 gargantuan, the PS3 boomerang, and the Wii Classic wire-out-the-bottom nonsense. Meanwhile the Gamecube controller is still the best, better than the dual-shock as far as ergonomics is concerned. I'm a SEGA fanboy, but the reality is that Gamecube out Sega-ed the Dreamcast which SEGA sold as a rich-kid console. And Saros has said a bunch that most of the good games for Dreamcast and Gamecube have been ported at this point.
