Thread: The term 9/11 Really craps me off

I feel that we should commemorate the lives lost on that day and remember the lives of those who were changed forever but the whole talk of it bringing us together as a country is total BS.

The only time we were united was just after the event itself, ever since then we have argued about everything to do with it.

And why does Sept 11 have to become such a dirty date?

Dec 7, 1941 is not Called Dec 7 We refer to it as the attack on Pearl Harbor

We should not forget about the events of that day but we need to reclaim the date and stop making Sept 11th a dirty day, It was a day that a bad thing happened however I feel sorry for anyone who celebrates a birthday, wedding anniversary or other major personal event on this day because there is a mentality of how dare anyone show any joy on Sept 11th.

Okay.. off my soap box now.

in forty years, see if it's still called "nine eleven". Historically speaking the attack just happened, give it time. We are, as a nation, still VERY resentful about the attacks and still growing as a nation. How else can you explain why the nation is so damned crazy right now.

honestly I thought it's quite sad how so many people consider it such a big deal.

*****ing and moaning won't change what happened. and nor will going to Afghanistan(well Iraq first because I doubt they could spell Afghanistan) and killing hundreds of civilians for no reason at all.
this is worse than back in the 60s when america poisoned vietnam as they withdrew.

The worst thing about 9/11 is that this year it's a Sunday.
I like to have a few drinks at the local bar and remember those we've lost, because it doesn't seem as sad when I'm drunk.

Well, it is indeed a sad event, and guess what, not everyone in the Middle East are terrorist, nor all Arabs, nor all Muslims. We're as peaceful as any other nation, go around doing our jobs and feeding our families. We don't celebrate death of others, especially civilians. We have our own terrorist attacks to worry about...

I felt like sharing that. I believe it's rare for you (US citizens) to have a direct insight about us Arabs, so I'm trying to tell you, like every nation, there's the good and the bad. Like how G.W.Bush USED the 9/11 attacks to support his war-hunger and guess what, attack oil-fertile nations...I'm not going into that debate, but we all know that backhand deals and strategic resources were the real motivations, not Spreading Democracy and building a better world, nor is the US the international police who can just come crackin' on anyone who opposes it (yes, it's still the top military power in the world, but with power comes responsibility).

And I do sympathize with the victims and their families. It was not their fault they were in the wrong place at the wrong time...

Venom knows Im also part Arab(im multiracial) but in the US and I dont go around killing people. 99% of the Arabs are good and about 1% arent as good. Its just like the rest of the world. The 1% give trouble.

We all know that not all people from the Middle East are terrorists, just like not all Americans are "The big American Hero" you see in movies.
If we could abolish all the stereotypes the world would be a better place.
