Or witch is the best method to play back up games?

No, swap magic does not work on PS1 games.
You will still need the magic keys or a flip top or something to do the swap with.
You will also need a store bought PS1 game or a PS1 cheat disk (gameshark, codebreaker, ect) or a Breaker Pro to be able to play backups.

You can play PS1 backups if you get a modchip for your PS2.

No, you use a ps1 cheat disk instead of swap magic.
