Thread: PSX games on PS2 without a mod-chip

I was wondering if anyone knows how I can play burned ps1 games on ps2 with only swap magic. I have a disk already burned with alcohol120 and it seems to be burned right except it won't play. Swap magic says: Is not a Ps2 game or something like that.

I read somewhere that I need some sort of ps1 swap disk...can anyone direct me or recommend me to one?

As i know, so Swap Magic doesn't support PS1 games.

What I'm really looking for is an answer to what sort of swap disk I need/can use. I'd appreciate it a lot and pass on lots of Karma. :-)

I use a Gameshark. I have an older version (v3.3 I believe) which will not even work on the PS2 but I have a newer version (v5.0+ I don't remember the exact version off-hand) which works great. What you do is put the Gameshark in and once you get to the menu asking what language you want, it's ok to use a slide tool (assuming you have a fat PS2) since the disc won't spin anymore from that point on.

So, unlock the tray and pull it out, swap the Gameshark with your burned copy, close and lock the tray. After selecting the language, hit "Start Game" and "Without Codes". The Gameshark will come to a screen saying to press X when the disc has been inserted. Hit X! I seem to have to hit it twice on my PS2 for some reason but only once on my PS1. It doesn't matter what game is selected on the Gameshark since you aren't loading any codes. The only thing I use the Gameshark for is as a swap disc since I don't really cheat on games.
