    one of two things:

    - false warning, try fan test method

    - it really is overheated and you need to apply thermal paste on the two chips inside the ps3. If it is this reason, DO NOT PLAY PS3 so much as you can move the CPU chip inside the ps3, breaking it permanently (unless you know how to reball and stuff)

Might I ask did you buy this console used???

I would do just what the first guy said. I bought a PS3 used, never got any error but, It seemed to be running warm and I replaced the old thermal paste with Arctic Silver 5. It runs a lot cooler and it was not that hard to do. If you need it done and don't want to do it. I would do it for you for $25.00. I very good to I've overclock Hundreds of computers and done hundreds of Consoles.

-I will replace old thermal paste with Arctic Silver 5 for $25
Thank the Person who helped you, Thank them Damn it!
