    Default Skullmonkeys [PAL/ENG]

Skullmonkeys is the successor title to The Neverhood, which came out only on PC (and, in Japan, as "Klaymen Klaymen" on PSX). The game is an old-school jump and run type of game, with a large number of FMVs. The entire game is molded in clay.

The player takes control of Klaymen throughout the game in an attempt to put a stop to the main opponent, being Klogg, who wants to destroy Klaymen's homeworld, The Neverhood, via a huge robot called "Evil Engine No. 9". He uses an army of extremely dumb skullmonkeys to stop Klaymen in his quest; With the exception of several strange, clay birds, each and every enemy in the game is a monkey. The game features music with lyrics by Terry Scott Taylor.

    Default Fighting Force 2 [NTSC-U]

Fighting Force 2 is a beat-em-up/adventure game set in the not-to-distant future. Human cloning has become a real possibility, but has been banned by an international treaty. The Knackmiche Corporation has been suspected of researching cloning, and you, Hawk Manson, are sent in on a covert mission to investigate.

This game features large levels and both hand-to-hand and weapons combat.

    Default Thrill Kill (Uncensored) [NTSC-U]

Thrill Kill has become perhaps the most famous cancelled game in recent memory. When the game's original publisher, Virgin Interactive, was acquired by Electronic Arts, EA looked over the game and deemed it unfit for publication. They cancelled Thrill Kill's release and refused to license the game to any other publisher. The game lives on as a popular black-market item, however, and its engine was used to power Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style.

Although we love fighting games like Tekken 3 and Tobal 2, they're too clean. Where are the compound fractures? The decaptitations? The sausage-like entrails rupturing from an abdomen? Let's face it, when it comes to bloody, limb-wrenching, stomach-churning violence, the Americans can do it better than anybody else.

Unfortunately, that sort of action just hasn't been done well since the Mortal Kombat games, and the genre's been stagnating since. Until ThrillKill, from Virgin Interactive. When it arrives this October, it will be far and away the most disturbing fighting game to keep you awake at night.

As fighting games go, the characters are something of a mix between Mace: The Dark Age and ASC's Sanitarium. Imagine the Rocky Horror Picture Show gone bad, and you've got an idea who you're going to play in ThrillKill. Among the cast are such luminaries as a French maid, a man in a straitjacket, Siamese twins connected waist to waist, and a butcher who enjoys a taste of human flesh along with his beef. Basically, you're in Hell, and you're fighting everybody else to get out, and believe it, when you're stuck with this crew, you really want out.

Gameplay is very different from the standard fighting game. First of all, it's more of a party game in the sense that four people can play the game at the same time. Once the match begins, you'll be punching and kicking, but there's no dmage. Instead, you've got this powerup meter that increases every time you punch, kick, or combo someone. Once that meter's filled, that player can now kill for a short period of time. They get a really impressive powerup, then go after another player. This is the cool part. When the other three players are s****bling to get away from the killer, they have a special move where they can throw an unlucky opponent into the path of the killer player. Should a character get killed, you're treated to a very, very gruesome fatality. For example, the maid can grab a person's head and slice it off, at which point the body spurts blood and the head goes flying, also gushing a bright red fountain. Then it begins again, with one less character. The last kill gets an extra special death animation, called the ThrillKill and that's where the game gets its name.

The action at this point is somewhat stiff, but it's still early, and if you're looking for blood and guts, this has got more than we'd ever imagined. We can't wait.

    Default Asterix [PAL/Multi4]

This is an light-hearted action-strategy game featuring the popular Asterix comic book characters. You play as Asterix, Obelix and the rest of the Celtic Gaul army as they war with the Romans, led by Caesar, who have seized all but one territory from the Gaul Empire. After gathering your army, you must capture lands adjacent to yours.

When you attack a neighbouring land, you'll either: play a side-scrolling action sequence, your men will go into war with that land's forces, or you'll play one of four mini-games. These include 'Throw the Roman' and 'Bowling for Romans', while the side-scrolling action sequences have you collecting coins and other items. If you make it through the level alive, you gain control of the land and its resources.

In some usually smaller territories, there are no mini-games or action sequences, only combat between your troops and the opposing forces. You only choose how many men you wish to send to war, and watch as the battle is fought. There are 9 differing levels such as a Roman camp, Gallo-Roman village, the Alps and even a Pirate's Ship to add variety.

    Default LSD: Dream Emulator [NTSC-J]

LSD: Dream Emulator is a video game released in Japan in 1998 for the Sony PlayStation video game console and is one of three products (the others being a music CD and a book) based on a diary of dreams that a staff member at Asmik Ace Entertainment had been keeping for a decade. It had a small cult following.

In LSD the player navigates through a psychedelic dream world. The idea is simply to walk around and enjoy things in a dream environment. There are many bizarre environments in this world, and one way to travel through them is by foot. However, if the player bumps into walls or other objects in the game, they will be transported to another environment instantaneously through a system called "linking". Bumping into people, animals, or special objects usually results in a stranger dream.

Each dream can last up to 10 minutes, after which the player will 'wake up', when the screen turns black and the player is sent back to the game's initial menu. However, if the player falls off a cliff in the dream, then the player may wake up immediately. There is a graph that appears at the end of each dream that keeps track of the player's state of mind; the states are Upper, Downer, Static and Dynamic, as referring to the environments and the general feel of the dream the player just went through. Past states may have effects on later dreams.

While the player walks through an environment, the surroundings may suddenly change. For example, eyes may suddenly appear on the walls and stare at the player. Even if the player visits the same place twice, it may look quite different - sometimes, the textures of walls will change to subtly different versions or new items will appear for the player to encounter. One may also encounter strange creatures while roaming around, including a celestial nymph flying through the air, a wild horse running through the prairie, or a huge man filling up an entire room.

The game is set in a first-person environment. The player may use the LEFT and RIGHT directional buttons to look and change direction, the UP and DOWN buttons to initiate or reverse movement and the shoulder buttons to strafe left or right. The player may also hold the X button while moving to run, the SQUARE button to look down and the TRIANGLE button to look up.

The number of "days" are kept track of. As the player progresses, the pattern on walls and the form of the player may transmute. Occasionally the player may come across a man in a Grey Trenchcoat and Hat, commonly referred to as the "Grey Man" or the "Shadow Man". He walks in one direction only. Getting too close to him will make the screen flash, the man disappear, and removing the ability to recall the dream in a Flashback.

After roughly 20 days of gameplay, a new option will appear in the main menu, called "Flashback". This mode lasts for only around 3 to 5 minutes versus the main game's 10. Flashback's purpose is to revisit locales and characters from past dreams. Due to the heavily random nature of the game, Flashback mode is often the only way to see an area with the same textures twice. Taking the same steps in Flashback as in the normal dream it is redoing will allow one to completely do over that dream.

There are over 500 patterns of background music in the game. These are called patterns, not tunes, because they all share the same musical score, but are played in different tones. Some of the music was made by Ken Ishii, a Japanese techno DJ and producer who also made a track for the game Rez.

    Default Earthworm Jim 2 [PAL-E]

An ordinary average earthworm named Jim goes about his normal daily life, cruising around avoiding crows and doing other general worm-like things. Jim is suddenly struck by a very large ultra- high- tech- indestructible- super- space- cyber- suit. Through sheer luck, Jim rests safely in the neck ring of the suit.

Suddenly, the ultra-high-tech space particles of the suit begin interacting with Jim's soft wormy flesh. A radical light-speed evolution takes place.

Jim soon realizes he is in control of the suit.

Gameplay is similar to the first game, with Jim jumping and running through the levels. There are 5 weapons more than the original game to collect. Characters like Princess Whats-Her-Name and Psy-Crow appear.

    Default Mortal Kombat 2 [NTSC-J]

The Mortal Kombat fighters, plus several new ones, return for a tournament held by the evil Shang Tsung of the Outworld. The action is one-on-one as before, and famed for its high level of violence and blood (other than the sanitised Nintendo version). There are 5 difficulty levels and optional credits, as well as the usual two player mode including same character duels.

To win the main tournament, the player must beat each of the other human players, before taking on Shang Tsung, Kintaro and finally Shao Kahn. Players have a range of punches and kicks available, as well as flying kicks, uppercuts, roundhouses, and the special moves, which vary for each player. These include throws, uppercuts, long-distance bullets, bicycle kicks and a teleport feature.
