Also try to copy the vsh.self first without enabling write access. Cause your not actually writing anything your just copying.
    thanks a bunch!! :rock:

    Great guide! I'm thinking of switching away from kmeaw and going to it although I might just try this on kmeaw and see what the deal is... but question on this step:

    8. Once it is finished, restart the PS3 again. Welcome to Rebug 3.55.2. Also there is an update 4 .pkg file for Rebug 3.55.2 as well. Download the pkg, copy it over to your USB Thumb and install pkg.
    What / where is the update package you are referring to? Is it available from the Rebug site?

    Never mind I just went and looked it up for myself, its the Rebug Update Package 0.4 (3.55.2) part right?

    I have a question(like above):
    In 8th step there is something about pkg, is it this?
    http://ps3bins.net/rebug/pkg/rbgupda...0.4_3.55.2.pkg
    If not can somebody upload the right file? Because I can't find it...

    since this thread is more active, i'll ask my question here.

    i have an account with psn and signed in before but what if i upgraded my hdd which i had to reformat the ps3. does that count towards being online before?

    One question. I have a virgin PS3, never signed-in PSN. I tried to replace vsh.self on kmeaw, and I got Red Screen. I used System Update option in Recovery Mode and installed Rebug. Fortunately, only dev_flash was re-written, dev_hdd was intact. I'm good with Rebug, has more options than kmeaw, the only thing I miss is 3.70 spoofer, the rest is just perfect. But, to satisfy my curiosity, if I turn back on kmeaw, would I return on the first step (without act.dat, virgin PS3) and can't use ReActPSN anymore, or my new created act.dat remains, and I would have no problems?

    Correct. I would link to it directly but Rebug stated that they didn't want their links hotlinked. So I just linked to the main site instead.

    I think your new act.dat file would remain. Do you want to revert back to Kmeaw due to the 3.70 spoofer? If thats the case I understand. I think rebug would suit you just fine though. It could do everything Kmeaw does but more (Even though most people wouldn't take advantage of the advanced capabilities). But yes you are able to safely revert back to Kmeaw any time.

    I think you should mention before-hand that if you install REBUG you lose the PS3s Media Server options. I installed it and am now having to go back to Keamw because I use the Media Server all the time.
    Am I meant to put something funny here?

    No, it's not a big deal that spoofer. I'm good with Rebug. I have Media Server features in Showtime, there's no need for them to be in XMB. I just heard that HDD speeds are slower on Rebug than kmeaw. Me, I don't think so, the HDD itself matters in my opinion, not the kernel that is using it. I'll stick with Rebug.
