Could it be a region issue? I have a region 3 3.55 kmeaw, and I got the 80010017 error with Dead Island. My BluRay drive is working fine with game discs, so I checked the region code for Dead Island- it's EUR (region 2).

Never mind. Just found out that there's yet to be a fix for Dead Island. But thanks for the info. +REP added.
