Default New HDD - making an exact copy?

So, my 500 GB is starting get full.
    Getting a 1TB instead.
Is it possible to make an EXACT copy of the old HDD so that I don't have to transfer everything again from my PC to my PS3 (this would take forever)?
Would it be possible to use for example Acronis True Image?

Pretty annoying to have to re-install all DLC/backups.

u can make a backup using the ps3 itself. it will transfer all of the contents over to an external hdd. obviously, it will have to be larger than the size of your internal. it won't transfer your trophies though. for that, you'll have to transfer them to your computer or hdd manually.

    install rebugCFW.
go to "debug for HDD exchange utility" in debug menu 1 (should be the default)
attach the new bigger drive via USB and tell it to copy. when it is done swap the drives. reinstall firmware through the recovery menu if you need to.

yes. (there's full info on the screen before you start)
it is a system for upgrading your drive so it just clones the drive (encryption and all) to external allowing you to swap for the new drive

EDIT: just went through a portion of the process. don't freak out when it goes all low res and stalls for a minute or two on the first reboot, it's just going to the transfer utility menu (which looks a lot like the recovery menu)

    That sounds awesome.
I have read up a lot and it seems using a PC will work but it won't get the extra space.
Could you please confirm that it will work going from a 500 GB to a 1TB AND getting the extra space with rebugCFW?

Also, how hard is it going from kmeaw to rebug and what I have to do?!
Does it work the same way with iso loaders?
