    Question Rsod on 4.0???

So heres my problem i hve a fat cechl01 ps3that i bought from an old guy for a few bucks cuz he was looking to get rid of it since it had the red screen of death.. first thing i did was put it into recovery mode and try to update it to 4.0 to see if it would work but it stopped at like 40% and skipped to 100 then booted back into the rsod..the next thing i did was pop in a hdd from a ylod ps3 and formatted it but it failed and again rsod so i tried recovery again with the new hdd and still it skipped from 40 to 100 and booted rsod...i researched around and found the downgrade method with the calculator or psp but that was for people on 3.55 and im on 4.0 now....i have also seen people fix it on here by installing cfw and then doing other stuff....provlem is i dont think theres a 4.0cfw.... what do you guys think? Is it fixable or should i just sell it for parts or get a new motherboard for it? Or does the bluray drive cause the faioed updates?
