Default Please Help Running Homebrew on Ps3 with dead Bluray

Ok, I am new to the PS3 scene.... I have modded every console I ever had... except my PS3 until here recently. I have tried to educate myself and done many searches and etc. So I have been reading alot, but so much of the PS3 Dev info is outdated as in 2009 and 2010... anyhow I have a PS3 with a fried blu ray drive. I managed to get KMEAW 3.55 CFW installed on my Fat Box with the broken drive after hours of fighting it. Then I COULDNT RUN HOMEBREW. The screen would turn black and the system would freeze. Back to google, and forums i went reading, and reading. Apparently Im back to problems because of the drive. So, i decided to try different custom firmware (REBUG 3.55.2) Ran install from xbm and bam, back in the endless loop of updating. Which is where I am now. Thing is, my question isnt about getting CFW installed, nor am I worried that my system could possibly be bricked. I know ill get KMEAW installed again. I just download the KMEAW BDB 3.55 CFW and will be formatting my hard drive shortly, and setting my flash drive up, even if that doesnt go smoothly ill figure out a way to get out of the loop and back on CFW.... my question is how in the heck am I going to run homebrew on it once I get it up and running, I havent found many people talking great about getting software running whilst having a dead bl uray drive. Then again everything i find myself reading is from 2009!!! So here are my questions...

    1. Are there any particular Firmware that is more reliable to use with a dead blu ray??
    2. Once i get custom firm ware installed is there a package or bypass i can install to make it quit relying on the blu ray drive?
    3. Are there any good tutorials on using a ps3 for homebrew and running games from the hard drive?
    4. Could someone give me some links to more up to date firmwares and .pkg files or at least links to information that will lead me to the files...

I did all this only because the blu ray drive is dead and i wanted to be able to play games from the hard drive. And now the dead blu ray drive is the one thing holding me back... quite frustrating.

I had kmeaw installed along with multiman, everytime i opened it, the screen turned black and the system locked up, along with openps3ftp, it also turned screen black and locked up, along with any emulators i tried to run. it seems as if all homebrew turns the screen black and freezes the ps3, according to what ive read this is due to the faulty bluray drive.... should i be able to beat this problem?

Have you tried to create MFW with MFWBuilder0.2? It has an option to "allow firmware update of console with broken blu-ray drive".

I have bdb cfw, which is blu ray drive bypass its firmware that already has the bypass.... I have a new problem now, ps3 wont recognize the harddrive... it is giving me error 8002f281. I am not able to install any firmware until i can get my harddrive to recognize again. I formatted it with my pc earlier which is when the problem began, when i started update from flash drive under recovery it would lock up at checking please wait, i retried a bunch of times and it finaly went through and told me my harddrive needed reformatted, and said press select and start and hold for 5 seconds... I did so and it ran a few minutes and then pulled the error 8002f281. now everytime i try to run the update it says checking please wait and then runs a few minutes, then returns the same error 8002f281, I also tried a harddrive from a different ps3 that my friend just had break thnking it would possibly let me format it, but it just automatically gives me the same error during checking please wait.... So im pretty much stuck...

remember, ps3 does not recognise NTFS format, it only reads FAT32.

    hope that helps !!
