mates please i need a little help "updating problem"
well i will try to make this quick and easy.
i got a fat ps3 on 2.42 ofw, but the brul ray doesnt work and i think its not the original from the ps3.
now when i try to install ofw 3.55 or 3.55 cfw it shows me a error at 3%.
i already search all over the place and i try reformatting the hard drive and no diference.
please can someone point me the right direction?
thanks in advance

you gotta install 3.55 ofw before 3.55 cfw.
and what exactly does this error say?
also you can try installing your updates in the system recovery menu.

first try to update to 3.15 first then 3.55, if that doesn't work try cleaning your ps3 it might just get overheated.
If the problem persists try using the directions below, but do it on your own risk:
- take out the hard drive
- connect hard drive to pc (running windows 7 64bit, but any windows os should work without other software)
- open up disk management - in win7 it asked me to make a master boot record, so I did.
- format in NTSF - that's right, NTSF - don't use quick format
- shut down pc, take out hd, take usb drive too
- put hd back in ps3, put usb stick in ps3
- boot ps3
- a screen will pop-up saying the hard disk have to be formatted
- hold start + Select for 5 sec.
- After formatting the system will restart and the update will start installing
- configure your ps3 setup - done
I hope you get it working. Here is the link to the forum that mentions it:

If you want to be more informed about the scene, check the ps3devwiki
