Reverting to OFW, precautions I should take?
So I've decided to revert to OFW for now so I can play a recently bought copy of Dark Souls.
What with tools like the E3 flasher and progskeet available, and KaKaRoTo working on a firmware compatible with 4.00 I thought I've got nothing to lose, really.
Which is why I've come to ask what I had better do before reverting.
I have, on my PS3:
1) MultiMAN which has a couple of games installed.
2) 2 PSN games installed through pkg files (namely Dead Nation and Loco Roco).
3) The lv2 patcher that came through MultiMAN.
4) Lots of saved games from both backups and retail games.
What do I need to take care of before I go back to OFW to avoid bricking my console?
I was thinking I'd probably have to uninstall MultiMAN and its games, but I'm not entirely sure about everything else.
Also can I go straight to 4.00 OFW from 3.55 kmeaw (my current one) or should I use the recovery menu to go back to 3.55 OFW first?
My PS3 is a retail PS3 Slim 160gb model.

Save your savedata to a usb. Go to 3.55 ofw. Reformat your HDD through recovery then update.
-
you can also save your trophies inside ''home'' folder..

Thanks for the help guys, but I have one last question...
Is it possible to basically backup my PS3 hdd onto an external hdd? Or at the very least, my MultiMAN games or PSN ones?

yes, u can backup your save files etc on your external hdd
In order to backup your internal hdd games use multiman.

+ REP ME IF I WAS HELPFUL:rock:

yes, to backup your games make sure your external dev has got enough space and
use multiman to do it (''Copy'')
-
And... the external has an NTFS filesystem and already has stuff loaded on it. I heard it needs to be FAT32 format? Is this true? If so I'm going to need a lot of USBs lol

yes, it needs to be FAT32...
try to free up space on your external and then format it to use on ps3..

reverting to OFW pre-cautions:
- format your PS3's Internal HDD (use format utility for this)
- restore factory defaults (via recovery menu)
- update to latest OFW (as the finishing blow)
You're done, no more trace of being hacked, although if you have your PS3 connected to the internet all the time, it may already have contacted the HQ about your console's activity when its being modified.
