Thread: couple of questions ?

so i have a couple of questions to ask
1-i can't change the rom and the save path in vba emulator to my external ... and when i change it ... the emulator broke ... then i'll have to re-install pkg

2-how to change the multiman retro path ... i mean i want the multiman to read the roms on my external in a folder called roms inside GAMEZ

3-i need the metal gear solid 4 missing slot ... the game freezes after launching it ... i heard that there is a missing slot and the links are broken

4-i suggest to make a wii emulator on ps3 cuz if there is a wii emulator on pc then it's not hard to make it on ps3 right ? and the controller problem can be solved by using ps move ?:rock:

I can't help you with your other questions, But I can tell you something about wii emulator.

I heard some rumors about it, don't know if it is true, but I don't think it will work perfectly. I don't know about programming but I used lots of emulators on my pc, I have a decent system, but even with that none of the emulators work properly, and on ps3 system it's probably harder to do something like that. It would be awsome if we could have some 5th-6th gen consoles (actually wii is a 7th gen).
but as you can see, we can't, we can't even play ps2 games, because of the bacwards-compabitibilty problem.

There is a suggestion thread on the forum, but it's about forum suggestions, not emulators. So maybe we should open a new thread about emulation and see if really people care about it (I do and I think a lot of other people do too). Then maybe someone will know this is worth working on.

ps3 is five year old hardware, its not the greatest "PC" so just because an emulator works well on a PC does not mean the PS3 can handle it. PS3 is starting to get outdated.

then why the hell new ps3 games works perfectly on ps3 (512 ram i think) and on pc it won't work ... only on 1 gb ram or higher ?!

i think there is a great chance to make wii , dc , n64 emulators on ps3

Meh wii emulator would be a bit difficult, altho the move controls do help, but a port to two different processing styles (PS3 is cell and Wii is different) so it's NOT that easy. Plus why not just get a wii if you want it that much lol? it's cheap and fully hackable.

As to your second question, i dont use emulators, but IF you can change your rom directory, then it'll definitely be by changing the "options_default.ini" file you get when you download MM. Find the value, modify (it's explained how) and put on usb.

PC uses regular RAM, while PS3 has 256 MB of XDR DRAM main memory and 256 MB of GDDR3 video memory, both are high performance, very fast data access/read/write, which make them so much faster than higher PC RAM, it's not all size, it's the speed that matters in a RAM.

yep. What Venom said is true. It would be harder to make a wii emulator.

Wii emulator may be harder, but what about ps2 emulator? It should be easier than a wii emulator.

I read something about the "cobra dongle" they say that the latest cobra usb includes a ps2 emulator for non-compatible ps3's, but as you expected it is very new,buggy and slow (just like the first pcsx2). Well maybe someone can work on it and make it better. This is possible, right?

i opened multiman file browser last night and a found 3 folders one called ps1emu or emulator i don't remember .. and another one called ps2emu and pspemu ...
what r those ?
