    Default ps3 Blu-ray Drive Disc won't Spin

First off i just wanna say i dont have the white magnet for the disc drive the previous owner lost it anyways when the ps3 first came it would not accept any disc but i fix that and even got the blue light to come on and stay on when i put in a disc however the disc will not spin when opening the drive i saw a small black button on the part that the disc sits on i decided to press that button to see if the motor would turn on. However it didn't so now i wanna know, what exactly do i need to replace the motor that the disc sits on or the laser?

I had similiar problem, first ma laser stopped reading blue rays then the disc in drive stopped spinning. In my case it was lens problem. So the guy you bought ps3 from claims that the drive was working but he lost the magnet? Sounds fishy. I can't be sure but I think your lens are dead.

thanks for replying. i guess ill have to replace the whole deck then i wont have to worry about if the motor is the problem or the lens.
