Thread: Download PS3 Games

I've got a PS3 Phat with a busted Blu-Ray Drive. It has the correct firmware to JB it. If I buy a JB can I download ps3isos and install them to an external HDD and play them like that, or is the only way to play back up ps3 games is to install them to the hdd from the ps3 BR drive?

Yes you can after you get the jb flash drive you update the JB to the recent firmware of the brand you get I got a ps3break one then you put it into the ps3 make sure its turned off completely as in turn the switch off in the back or unplug the power cable in the back for slims only then you put the flash drive in turn the switch or plug the power cord back in then push the power button on the ps3 follower immediately by the eject button then it in jb mode then get a manager like open manager or back up manager etc then put them on a flash drive and install the under install pkgs then download a game from this site some games dont work if you have no disc in but all you do is download a game from this site and put it on a external hard drive or ftp the game from your computer wireless into your ps3 internal HD then you go to the manager mount the game and play check the disc-less guide on here to find out what games work disc-less

Another question: Whats the smallest game compatible? I'm going to use an ipod nano to hack the ps3, and I want a small sized game just to make sure I got everything right, before I start downloading 3GB+ sized files. Thanks!

You can install them onto an external if they're compatible or transfer them to your internal hdd. Or you can rip the disc onto your internal/external.

I don't know which is the smallest game, but the smallest game I've downloaded so far is 3D Dot Game Heroes. ~3GB uncompressed. That link also list game sizes btw.
