Default Formatting External HDD to FAT32

If I understand correctly, the only format that the PS3 reads for external Hard Drives is FAT32. I'm on windows 7, and when I go to format, there isn't an option to format to FAT 32 (because my drive is over 32GB).

I found a was to format it to FAT32 through command prompt, but after an hour, it's only through 10 percent.

I was just wondering if there was an easier/faster way to format the HDD to FAT32, or if it's even needed.

Hey there - you need HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool - v2.1.8

This will let you break that 32 gb barrier
I used it on 2 TB drive
    *2048 gb

    use this
    Code:
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SMVDVTI0
but use caution and make sure you pick your external hdd and not your C: drive because you can wipe out your whole computer real quick

Thanks guys, I was kinda hoping that I could use NTFS, but I guess I'll just go out and buy a seperate HDD for the PS3. Anyways +rep to both of you.

you dont have to buy a seprate hard drive.

you can just make an extra partion and format that partion to fat 32

    EG:

1TB hard drive NTFS will not work
1TB Hard drive Fat 32 will work
    1TB + 2 Partions 1-NTFS 1-Fat 32 will work

Ya, I was thinking that, but I'm just gonna get a new one, because I have a somewhat large partion for Wii games as well, which would only leave me with about 150 GB of space for everything else, and right now I have over 200GB of files that I need on the external.
