Thread: im lost please help!

ok im totally lost ive been researching all over line about these ps3keys or jailbreaks and what not but everyone seems to be using the teensy or max avr usb..... so heres my question im thinking of using the max avr usb since it seems to be a plug in play and i dont want to open up my console. so do all i do is plug this in ? do i have to put homebrew on it or something? and with it in do i just put a ps3 game in my ps3 and it rips it to my external usb drive? is there any videos showing step by step of setting this up and a video for showing how to rip games? thanks so much for anyone who can help!!

None of them require you to open up your PS3.
Personally I have a Teensy and it works great.
All you need to do is flash the correct hex file onto your Teensy which is simple enough.
Then you install the backup manager from USb stick onto your PS3.
Then all you need to do is boot the PS3 by pressing the power button and then the eject straight away.
And thenb you just use the backup manager to rip and play your games.
Simples.

EDIT - Just don't buy one of the dodgy clones like the ps3break because they can not be updated and you need one like the Teensy or Minimus that can be updated.

There is no opening of the console required for hacking it.
You have to put PSGroove or something similar onto the device you choose then just put it in the ps3s usb port.
There isn't a guide needed to rip the game, once you start the backup manager the only directions you need are on screen.
If you have an USB hdd connected it will automatically save to that, if you don't it will save to the ps3s internal hdd.

thanks for the replies guys!!! i knew i could count on fellow members to point me in the right direction, added rep to both of you. so where can i get a teensie thing? is there a video showing how to do a hex? cause i have no clue what a hex is :( . and do i need a certain kind of external hdd ? i know wii only works with certain drives didnt know if ps3 was same way. also whats the better backup manager the first one or v2? also my ps3 is 3.15 will this work or what do i need to do? thanks so much guys!! +++rep
