    Default PS3 hard drive issue

    so i bought a fat ps3 dirt cheap but no hard drive came with it.
    can i boot the ps3 without the hard drive. or can i boot it with a external hard drive hooked up? i wanna use the psjailbreak method and just put games on the external hd.

    As far as I recall a ps3 can not even turn on without an hdd in it.
