    Default 60gb ps3 hdd help

it first started with the ylod, and we fixed that, it was working fine, then 2 days later, my little brother was playing, and he f'd it up by turning off the ps3 from the back off and on. Then, the next morning we were going to play COD and it started up for 2 seconds then it froze.
We kept restarting and it changes sometimes, it has a green screen and sometimes the screen doesnt show, its just black
Do you guys think getting a new hard drive will solve this?
we checked everything inside and it seems ok, when we started the ps3 without the harddrive, it worked fine but not the menu, but when we put the hdd in, it screws up.
    Any suggestions?solutions?

Try reformatting your HDD in your PC and then reinsert it into your PS3, that may fix your problem, although you WILL lose your data i'm afraid

    Hope this helps

If you have a MacBook then your S.O.L i'm afraid, unless you can get a sata/usb converter

Your best bet is to try re-formatting with your ps3. You can find many on youtube like I just found right HERE

Not mine but one I just found. Now keep in mind though if it works you may lose all your trophies or demos you may have on your drive. But if it works it will save you about 150 bucks from sony. I did the same method shown but found out my HDD was going bad. Don't get me wrong it will work if it's a software error. But for me it was a HDD failure (or soon to fail). So I just opted for a bigger HDD. Went and bought a 1TB from amazon for about $70.

So now my 20gb Sony PS3 is a 1000gb or 1tb whichever you want to call it.
I store everything on my ps3 from now on (movies, music, pics, etc....)
Let me know if you need help in this matter.

You will definitely lose your demos and game saves, but you will not lose your trophies (as long as they are sync'd with the server)
