Thread: Black Border problem

It was my 21st birthday last saturday and i got myself a 250gb ps3 slim as my present and a few games came with it and a few were bought for me.

Now i set it all up and such on my 23" full HD monitor, set it to 1080p, full colour spectrum and that white setting. And it all looked very impressive and crystal clear on the menus and such. But when i put in the first game (Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising), it had quite thick black borders either side of the screen, and the image seemed a little washed out, i put it down to the game and went to sleep, then i popped in uncharted 1 this morning, and the black lines were still there on either side of the screen, i cant comment on the washed out for that game since i only got to the main menu.

So is that common with the ps3? Is there any way to get the picture to be full screen or do i have to just play with the black lines there?

Not sure if thats a problem with your monitor or some setting on your PS3 as I have had mine (120gb Slim) connected to a 23", 32" and 37" Full HD tv's and had no problems at all, the picture was full screen and the colours were crisp and bright.

So all I can advise you to do is check your display settings on your PS3 and double check the settings on your monitor while you have a game running

i checked the monitor settings and i switched a setting called 'image size' from auto to its only other setting which is wide, and that seems to have solved the problem, cant tell any difference to my pc or anything, just that the ps3 games are now in full screen
