Exclamation I need a decisive answer on PS3 flickering textures/graphical issues

I've googled around and everyone seems to be clueless on what [I]exactly[I] causes textures on the ps3. I have a launch model, I love it to death, but lately it started acting up in pretty much every game, textures will randomly flicker (like a bad video card on a pc does) and like random will get outstretched weirdly, but all this for less than a second. Can someone please tell me for sure what is wrong? thank you

well here's the thing. I rarely use HDMI but when I do in-game stuff still flickers. When I use my s-video cable same stuff happens too. I use both the HDMI and s-video cable (same ones) with other consoles like my ps2 and 360. No issues at all show up with those, it just happens on the ps3.

hmm.. thats puzzling. if it really bothers you ring sony up and see what they say? or take it back to where you got it from and tell them of the issue and ask for a replacement?

yea I was thinking of calling sony. Also, OG ps3's are pretty hard to come by nowadays, and im sure even if i still had warranty gamestop wouldnt be able to replace it.

yea so I called sony and they made me just rebuild the file system, and that fixed nothing. It's obviously the graphics chip or the gpu and cpu overheating. Would my symptoms as described above be signs of the YLOD?

Tha's what happening to my friend, a friend of mine gave me to check his PS3 Fat that was having the same and 2 weeks later YLoD, so that's the prelude of the YLoD.

So if you got spare money send it to SONY, and if your console is backward compatibility tell them to "REFLOW" the board not replace it. So that you can still play PS2 tittles.

Or just do the heat gun fix.
