Default Wich is the best free TV app for PS3?

    Hi there,

I'd like to know wich is the best TV app for PS3, 4.30CFW, wich one is easier to use, gets
more channels (from the internet of course), best quality image, faster loading speed, etc...?

The only one I could found was PS3Ultimate TV:
    http://www.ps3iso.com/playstation-ne...p-v1-04-a.html,
but it seems complicated to install / use, can such app cause any problems to PS3 CFW?
Because it seems that is necessary to "install your firmware pup through recovery" to uninstall.

I downloaded v1.10, from official website:
    http://ps3ultimatetv.weebly.com/installer.html
but I haven't installed it yet, because I read this on developers website:
"Please let me know if after installing this your missing anything on your XMB"
This app can delete options from XMB or is he talking about the app options itself?

    Many thanks

PS: Navi X for Showtime is a similar app?

    @Bruno,

As long as youre familiar with accessing dev_flash using dev_blind you shouldn't have a problem. The instructions are fairly straight forward and as long as you follow the instructions carefully, you shouldn't have a problem.
Not sure about the missing anything part though..

I guess I'll PS3Ultimate TV than. From what I could find, since the PS3 web browser has been much improved,
most live streaming wesbsites can be accessed without the need of any homebrew or special plugins / codecs.

Thank you very much for always being available to help

No worries. Let me know if you need help with dev_flash, as mucking around with the PS3 flash files can be a little dangerous.

    I'll probably need it

The latest version, on the developer's website, mentions nothing about making changes on dev_flash.

"Here is a PS3Ultimate TV installer i have adapted from XMBM+ with the help of developer andreus (thanks andreus)", All you do is install it, launch it and select the appropriate options it's pretty simple once everything is done PS3Ultimate TV will show up in either your Videos category or your TV category depending on which option
    you choose.

You should also note that you can delete the installer and it will not remove the application however you will loose the backup files the installer creates.

Also if you have any previous version of PS3Ultimate TV installed on your ps3 please remove it first by going into "Game Data Utility" on your ps3 and deleting it.

    PS3Ultimate TV
Please let me know if after installing this your missing anything on your XMB or if you wish me to alter anything.

    Needed for HFS Link:
    HFS PC Application

With the installer the hfs.xml will be installed on the root of your ps3 hdd and the hfs.xml is set to localhost by default so please edit the file
and replace localhost with your pc's ip address and once everything is working please re-download the themes if your version is lower than v1.10.

    Extra
    Package Manager Installer (RCO Free)
Please let me know if after installing this your missing anything on your XMB or if you wish me to alter anything.

    PS3Ultimate Restore
Allows you to restore your TV, Video or Music Category to it's original state.

    Apps
    Web Browser Plus
Supports downloading to hdd also has FTP server running in the background and allocates 150MB for the browser.

    reActPSN v2.22 (4.21 CFW)
    OFFLINE PSN license generator.

reActPSN v2.22 (4.21 CFW) (TV Category)
    OFFLINE PSN license generator.

    YouTube For PS3 v1.01 (3.55 CFW)
    Requires PSN Sign In.

    Playstation@Home v1.70 (3.55 CFW)
    Requires PSN Sign In.

    Netflix v1.02 (GB) (3.55 CFW)
    Requires PSN Sign In.

    Netflix v2.10 (US) (3.55 CFW)
    Requires PSN Sign In.

    PlayTV v2.03 (3.55 CFW)
    Requires Hardware."

I really don't get it, PS3Ultimate can only be uninstalled with PS3Ultimate Restore.pkg, that will restore what and, since only 3.55 and 4.21 is mentioned, to wich cfw version? I don't want to have access to any pc files so I think won't be needing HFS PC Application, I just want to have direct access to live streaming channels (wich I don't know if they're pre configured or not) without having to use the web browser, I have no idea what either versions of reActPSN do, because I never used PSN, don't even have an account and from what I read, for PSN to work on 4.30 CFW an account had to be previously created on 3.55 CFW... I also don't know if installing Web Browser Plus is ok, because one of the improvements I notticed from 3.55 to 4.30 CFW, was that the web browser works much better, no more constant messages saying there's not enough memory to load a page, access to Youtube is also fine (even without a PSN account), better than the plugin on Showtime even and I don't want to mess it up.

No ideia what I should install and how to do it in a way that can be reversed in case I simply don't like the app or something goes wrong.

*Sorry for the hugely monstruous post*

I hate to hijack this post Absolutek, but i'm hoping to get an experts' answer.Am I correct in presuming that when you have the t.v. app on ypur ps3 that certain movies and t.v. shows come onto your hard drive ? If so my question is this, how do you get rid of ones you don't want? And can you get rid of them without using the uninstall pkg. I ask cause i have a ps3 with a 40gb hdd with about 28gb or more with this t.v movie. & movie crap in the t.v. section of this app and I don't know hos to get rid of this easily or safely. As you say it's dangerous. Please help me!! I have ps3ultimate t.v. 1.00 I believe

    @blakk,

Only mucking around with the dev_flash files and enabling access to them is dangerous. The easiest way to uninstall the TV app would be to just simply re-install your firmware through recovery. You won't lose anything else, except for other things that you may have changed previously in dev_flash.

In any case, you can't access dev_flash directly anyway. You may see this in the file manager if you're using Multiman, but you can't copy or paste files into those folders, because access isn't directly enabled - and for good reason. Mucking around with those files could cause an RSOD. Which brings me to dev_blind...

dev_blind is an app that is installed via a pkg that allows you to 'mount' dev_blind' in order to access dev_flash files. Even when this is done, you still have to allow write access to the dev_flash files, usually done in multiman.

The first versions of this PS3 Ultimate TV app were installed by having to access files in your dev_flash folder, hence you had to install dev_blind and access them that way.

I'll check out the latest version, as I re-installed kmeaw from True Blue and seemed to lose the TV app, so I'll check it out and then let everyone know how to install it properly step-by-step.

p.s. I don't believe the video files are stored on your PS3, these should just be a streaming file and should literally be deleted upon shutdown or whatever, but I"m not 100% sure on this. Again I'll check it out in a sec.
To answer your question more directly, the TV app really is only a browser window, it's pretty much like a web site that just points to online videos same way as youtube does. So it doesn't actually download all of the TV shows and movies to your PS3's hard drive, it is only opening up a web page and pointing to TV shows and movies that you might like to watch, so very little bandwidth or data is used until you actually click on something that you want to watch. You shouldn't even notice any hard drive space being taken up.

Thanks for responding. Really then my question to you is where is all my hdd space at? I have on the hdd no movies or shows just the 5 games that came on the machine. call of duty mw, marvel vs capcom fifa 12, and red dead revolver. I actually deleted super bike championship since I FTP it to filezilla. The 4 left add to about 25gb. The updates and maybe other starting files from those 4 games cant total 12 gb worth of space can they? +Rep!! to you for the help!! O.K after re-reading let me see if I got this right if I place kmeaw over again that'll set everything back without the t.v. app and the games on the hard drive will still be there correct?
