Default Blu-Ray issue? or something else?

ok i think it is my laser that needs replacing.

but want to double check before i get another one

Ps3 slim plays games fine (loads right away no lag) and loading for all ps3 games is fine, no problems there

but when i stick a blu-ray disc in (films) it will make a funky clicking noise and not play it.
I have reinstalled the firmware (legit 4.11) but still nothing changed

another thing is that if i have been playing for awhile (mw3) then stick a blu-ray in (book of eli) it will load up just fine (but others do not for some reason)

there is no problem at all with the disc's as they work just fine on my blu-ray player

Chris just as you thought the laser has to be replaced, I think it's almost done for. It might only work cuz of the quality of the movies that have been written, but after some times it won't even play the games anymore.

I would suggest replacing it before it starts scratching your blu-ray discs

I think the laser in my 120GB slim is shafted too. It plays PSX games but when I put a PS3 game in it makes one hell of a clunking noise and that's it. The blue light is lit so it knows there's a disc in the drive but nothing shows up in the XMB.

How easy is it to replace the laser, what model number do I need (if any) and what price should I be looking at paying (I'm in the UK).

    Any and all advice appreciated.
