Thread: ok guys is it dead? please good news...

ok so i have a dusey of a problem.. you guys ready for this..

i tried to update to KMEAW i have done it several times and it has worked

it got stuck at 72% and said it had messed up and needed to reboot and retry.. it did that several times so i looked it up it told me to reformat my hdd

i put my hdd into a external case and formatted it to NTFS

put it into my ps3 and it formatted it to FAT 32 worked just fine... went to XBM on OFW 3.55

tried to flash to CFW 3.55 KMEAW

went back into the loop of failing and rebooting

reformatted the HDD to NTFS from external HDD case

plugged it into PS3 and pressed the on button

it turned on....6 or so seconds later just turned off.....

went into recovery mode

out of the all the choices a few of them said cant find hard drive one looked like it was about to work and just clicked off the and update ps3 just sent me into the loop OF DEATH again

( i have a FAT32 15 gig Flash drive in the ps3 with the OFW 3.55 on it PS3>UPDATE>PS3UPDAT.PUP)

so lets recap Recovery mode..FAIL all the options need a OFW on the hdd i believe
ps3 turns on then off several seconds later

i dont have ANY cash to get this fixed or a new hdd..or to get my laser fixed (there is a disk in the drive if that might cause anything) so tell me if i MUST but if there are ANY WAY AROUND IT that would be best... i hate to see my Favorite game system die because im stupid and poor lol..

I think you are download a bad file of kmeaw did you check the MD5 of kmeaw, please try again this process and again download kmeaw from any thread and compare its MD5, you can download kmeaw from PS3 download section from my thread, also MD5 is mentioned there.

please try this, if not worked than please restore file system first from recovery mode and try again.

well lets see right now i cant even get the ps3 to see the hard disk if i put the CFW kmeaw from your thread onto the hdd just like the OFW would it work the same way when it trys to reformat to FAT32 and Restore file system just says can not find hard disk so at this point i don't think recovery mode is going to do anything untill i can get the ps3 to find the hdd and format it to fat32 witch i assume will also put all the files needed to get SR mode working...

im going to go over to your thread and put the CFW KMEAW on my flash drive (PS3>UPDATE>PS3UPDAT.PUP(from your thread)) and see if it trys to format the HDD when i put it back in the ps3 if that works i think i can get it going again..

hey guys im sorry about the delay getting back to you. so i put the KMEAW i got from your thread on to my flash drive and put it in the ps3 clicked on then turned off after a few seconds (Like it always does) so i booted up and tried to update from RM and it gave me "a serious error has occurred. contact technical support for assistance. (8002F281)

next i went back into Recovery mode and clicked (3) restore file system it went black and shut off several seconds later

like i said before none of the options work from recovery mode

(1) restart system - looks like its about to restart but then just turns off
(2) Restore Default Settings - just turns off
(3) Restore file System - turns off
(4) Rebuild database - i clicked yes and it says "The hard disk cannot be accessed." i click O to go back and it stays on RM
(5) Restore PS3 System - I click yes and it says "The hard disk cannot be accessed." i click O to go back and it stays on RM
(6) system update - i press Start and Select at the same time it says Checking please wait.. A serious error has occurred contact technical support for assistance.(8002F281)

there is nothing on its hdd right now no firmware at all i cant even get the ps3 to format it to FAT32..i believe this explains why system recovery mode wont work it has no base files to work off of. it is the original hdd from the ps3 and i know its not broken my pc can read it just fine...so with this new info.. whats your thoughts?
