    Default cobra usb problems

    Here's my problem.

My cobra use to work before I put in a different hard drive in there. What happened was that I got my hands on a 80gb bc ps3 on 4.00, I wanted to switch the hard drive with my 60 gb bc ps3 on 3.55. After I did this the system asked me to reformat, so I did. I tried cobra and the machine just froze on me, without the usb it works fine. I don't know what happened but cobra just didn't want to work as it use to. So I did the usb flash on 4.2 and re-did the cobra cfw, thinking that if I did everything as I did before it should work. To my surprise it froze on me??? I did this a few times, only when I flashed my usb to 4.3 did the ps3 actually load onto xmb. I had the apps folder and install pkg folder, great! Manage to install mmcm and cobra usb manager. Now when I try and use these apps, it freezes on me. I just get the black screen then nothing?????

Does anyone have a clue as to what's going on with my cobra? I've searched and searched but I can't find anything.

    Thanks for any help!

the console needs to be on 3.55 cobra CFW.
if you want tyo use it on that console you will need to downgrade it with a flasher first. E3 flasher is easiest.

It already is on 3.55. I'm using the ps3 that had the 60gb but I put in the 80 gb hard drive from the other ps3 on 4.00. It's something with the app or the usb. I start up usb manager or multiman or any app and I just get a black screen.

go to recovery menu and install 3.55 OFW
and then install cobra CFW again (make sure it's the right one, from their site)

    Upon further research last night....

I have a ps3 cecha01 working but no blu ray. Blu ray powers on, but doesn't read games. I did the re-install of ofw 3.55 then cobra cfw 3.55 offical. I get thru most of the install then at about 66% it gives me an error code 8002f155. I read up on this and it seems that the system does a hardware check before updating, something with the logic board not working, which is why I get the error code. The system itself trys again but to the same result, basically looping itself. I turned the system off manually, turn it back on and it goes straight to updating, no xmb. This time around it gets to the 66% then the system restarts itself. What do I see on the screen...both apps folder and install pkg folder! I thought great, it worked. I install cobra usb manager and try it out. This is where my problem lies. I just get a black screen and the system freezes. I'm not sure if I did a full install, but if that's the case then how did I get the two folders on the ps3?

I don't really know what the problem is. My other bc ps3 works fine with cobra. I'm not sure but I'm gonna try to re-marry the blu ray and see what happens. When I bought it, the machine had ylod and the connection from the blu ray to the mobo were off the board for some strange reason. I'm thinking that the guy might've switched the blu ray possibly.

Does anyone know how to check if the blu ray drive's logic board or lens is broken? This problem does not seem common because I can't find much info about it.

As for re-marrying the blu ray does anyone know how to downgrade with the cobra usb or a good link? There site doesn't seem to want to load and I can't find the manual anywhere online.

I'm guessing you'd just go back to 3.55 OFW and use the remarrying tutorial.
if you were able to install firmware you probably have a working drive.

don't know much more about it. check the tutorial section for the remarrying guide if you want it. I have no idea if the cobra dongle would work. though a recovery JIG is not the same as a regular dongle
