someone on utube told me to get a new PSU i got a new one but still same problem.
i was playing on 3.55 hermes 8 version if what i saw was right.
i was playing Catherine game, i saved at level 9-3, after save successful, it just turned off without any sounds or anything(just as you would lose power, thats how it went off)
while i was playing some other games, i kept on hearing a noise from time to time(it sounded as if u hit your finger nail against a plastic table, like a crack).

man first here we help for free don't need to say such a thing again,
not sure but just try this, Keep Pressing power button, would it turn on and off.
if not than turn it off and than on after 5 to 6 hours.
if not worked than I am afraid only Sony can fix this you have to pay $150 to Sony for this.

Could have you accidently put it on factory service mode? I got the same problem you have but I got it from trying to downgrade with System Update through the xmb in factory service mode.
Anyway, if you're not in factory mode at all, you should try turning your ps3 on with another internal hdd just to see if anything shows up.

k will try, no it was not put into recovery. it just turned of in middle of game

I'm not talking about recovery (holding the power button until it shows a special menu to format and stuff), I'm talking about Factory Service mode. But anyway, if you don'T know about this mode then the problem shouldn't be there I guess (you need a dongle to get in that mode and stuff).

ye by the reply's and the looks of it, there's no hope for ps3's in this condition, after the fact that the power supply was even swapped for confirmation. im gonna sell it as parts.
if anyone is interested pm me offers. i will keep the internal hard-drive for the sake that someday ill be able to retrieve data from it.

The dongle I'm talking about is some kind of copy of a key that ps3 techs use to repair ps3. It injects code into the ps3 by being inserted into the usb port and by turning the system on, pressing eject right after the power on button. I had to use this to downgrade my ps3 from 3.55 to 3.41 and then even further back to 3.15. If you never used it and your ps3 is stuck, I doubt it could help your ps3 now.
I had a similar problem to yours 2 weeks ago but it was caused by my misuse of that dongle. If you never used it, the solution isn't there.
