ps3 external HDD for backups buying help
Hi, guys! I want to buy and external HDD for my PS3 backups and I need some advice. I am from Eastern Europe and I don't have a very big choice on HDDs,and i am low on cash at the moment so I think about buying this one,
A-DATA SH93 Specs (hard drive, 500 GB, Hi-Speed USB) - Laptop Hard Drives - CNET Reviews
it's 500GB and fairly cheap, also my local retainer has it. My question is as follows - will it work without problems on PS3 and to what extent does it matter the model, size, internal/external transfer rate.(i reckon not much but..)
Is Max Data Transfer Rate at 30 MBps enough.Should i go for 2.5 or 3.5. Would cheaper external hdd put stretch over ps3s power supply etc
any advice would be appreciated.thx sorry if i trouble you with my Enlgish

I'm not an expert in the matter, but I hope that these suggestions help you:
1. Faster Data Transfer Rate is better. (30MB/s should be enough)
2. Physical HDD size doesn't the matter if it is going to be external. 2.5" can be used as internal HDD.
3. Theoretically any HDD can be used as external media (if it is formatted in FAT32). However, some HDD enclosures may have issues.
4. If your PS3 is slim, try to get a disk that use only one USB port, otherwise you will need an USB hub.
5. I personally prefer external HDD that is powered through the USB. Some external HDD that use external power supply, also tend to have a sleep mode that is not good for gaming.
