Thread: How can I downgrade from 3.66 to 3.55?

My new ps3 has 3.66 installed.
I've been searching the whole web for an actual downgrade.
But they all seem to be either fake or dead links.
Please help me.

you can try E3 flasher / progskeet (Tutorials section)

The only way to downgrade from 3.66 is with some hardware modification (opening your ps3 and installing a chip or flasher).

What do you mean by e3 flasher / progskeet, and is that the only alternative I have?
I mean, are there any downgrade methods for 4.0 or another version. Will it be easier then?
Because I don't want to open it up or anything. That's advanced stuff I do not want to dig in to.

if ur system came with 3.66, u can't do anything even with a hard-wired mod. u will brick the system if u try it.

Yes, these methods are the only so far! But both are very hard and require hardware changing/soldering...

Thanks guys. I upgraded it to 4.00.
I did find a hack that will allow me to install pkg files though, but 4.00 signed only obviously.
But that is a step in the right direction.
So I guess my next question would be. How do I resign 3.41/3.55 pkgs to 4.00? And are there any threads or anywhere where I can find already signed apps and games?
Because if I can install them resigned, I do not need to jailbreak nor downgrade it, correct?

And this will probably allow us to downgrade to 3.55. If someone could develop a 4.00 signed app that will flash the ps3 and allow us to downgrade to whatever cfw using this app.
I'm not sure if that would brick the system.
Resigning the pkgs is probably a better solution
But doesn't this basically mean that we do not need to jailbreak the ps3 anymore? At least if we are doing that for pirated games and apps purposes.

If your an average joe you should just wait till the smart guys come up with 4.00 CFW. I doubt an app allows you to downgrade anytime soon because they would have been came out with that for other firmwares. You don't have to waste your time trying to resign things because it isn't going to work.

if im not mistaken, we need the "keys" to sign stuff dont we?
