Thread: Back ups for noobs..

alright so lets see here im new to the jailbreak scene but i had a quick question for you guys well a few questions ok lets get started so i have a 300 GIG external HDD that i formatted to fat32 from NTFS with a real cool tool i found here Ridgecrop Consultants Ltd it let me move my backed up game to it ( GAMES--->BCUS98245 ) i plugged it into the ps3 and opened multiman 4.00.00 (ohh yeah im running KMEAW 3.55 without TB dangle) it found Little big planet 2 and i clicked it and it just boots me back to the PS3 XBM i have googled it and i have read something about select + X and i clicked EBOOT it took me to the XBM i clicked the LBP icon and BLACK SCREEN....... i had to unplug the power to restart ok so heres the problems i need to over come 1. i have a little internal HDD so i need to run off my external 2. my laser is broken..so i dont know what that will effect i think i read somewhere you need a boot disk....ANYONE have any advice how to get it running i have LBP2 and BF3 backed up ON the external hdd and it sees both i just need to get them working lol ^.^ i will keep working on it and update this if i figure it out myself so maybe this thread will help someone elce lol

u need to install the patch first, then the crack

humm after the patch and crack battle field just gave me a an error occurred during the start of this operation (80010017)... first after the patch and crack i went back into multiman and tried to load if from there and it kicked me out to XBM then tried to load it from XBM and it gave me that error i dont know if i have the settings right or whats going on..i have it set to external and i have tried direct boot and BD mirror

Some games require a game disc (any PS3 game disc), others don't.
Usually I select a game, then it goes back to XMB and I select the game from the disc symbol.
Patches and cracks need to be installed in XMB in "Install package files", in case you did not know.
(There is also an option in Multiman, additionally.)

well that might be a problem lol i installed the package files to patch and crack battlefield 3 and i could not find one for LBP2 but i did install them lol but there is a game in my disk drive but does the laser have to be able to read it for it to work or does it just need to have a disk in the drive? and do i need to select any settings im a complete noob lol if anyone knows a good thread for me to read to find out how to get games to work off external let me know @>@

Not sure if it's a good idea to install all packages with one click (not sure if you did that).
Install them separately, first patch then crack.

Well, you say you have a disk inside.
Is it shown in the XMB?
If you cannot run it but see it, it might be enough.
But if it's the same as if it was empty then it doesn't make a difference if there is a disk inside or not.

hummmm well i dont think its even seeing that there is a disk in the drive... is there any way around it or do i need to get it fixed....i got this from a friend and when i opened it up to check it out there was just a peace sitting there its a little half dollar sized white disk looking thing with a metal plate looking thing inside of it... any idea what that is? its not connected to anything and it looks important to a disk drive lol

haha found out what the ring was it sits imbtween the two white clamps INSIDE the disk drive its late now (and it still cant read disks) im going to get back on it tomorrow and hopefully (after some youtube) get it reading disks again so yeah good night guys and hope to hear from you all tomorrow (ps if anyone knows how to get around the whole needing a boot disk ill be glad to hear lol for now im just going to try to fix my laser) ^.^

1. Install patch according to your game id
2. Install crack according to your game id
3. change param.sfo
4. Put a disc in the tray and run from disc symbol
