Thread: What Should We Do?

First of all, this is not a topic for random insanity, I would like to read your comments and know what you think.

We all know, we haven't been getting most of the new games for 7-8 months. I don't mean to disrespect the hardworking devs like DUPLEX and EXEtrimall. I really appreciate what they're doing, and I think they're great. But there's something missing. I mean we have a great machine ps3, but we can not benefit from it enough. When we bought our ps3's we were thinking about great stuff, ps3 games, tons of emulators, ability to play pregen consoles (NGC, PS2, PS1, PSP, DS, Dreamcast, WII (ıt's not actually pre-gen...)), having useful homebrew applications, ability to play multiplayer (I'm fine with it, but I'm sure many other users would like to paly multiplayer). But all we can do is just sit and wait for a miracle.

Whining and flaming won't get us anywhere of course, I know that, and eventually we will be able to do these stuff, but when? What's so special about ps3 scene, why the hell devs do this only on ps3 scene?

X360: They got it all covered up, they can even play multiplayer.
Wii: Not only playing wii games, but they can also play n64,nds and ngc games. Come on, ps3 is much more powerful than that.
PSP: PSvita is coming, and 3ds is already here, but there are still devs working on this machine with full speed. Every week, they get new games, they have many emulators, they can play ps1 games, n64 games and even some ds games. And psp was released in 2004, not much before than the ps3.

What should we do? We are just users, we don't have any hacking or programming skills, and if you say donations, I remember Lightyear donating his n64 for n64 emulator, but do you guys see any news on an n64 emulator?

I'm only asking about this, because I don't see any logical explanation. Because if it would've been just about money it would've been in other scenes too. So what are your thoughts on this?

We may just all have to bite the bullet and use our consoles for the intent purpose that they were designed for - for playing retail PS3 games that we have purchased from a store or PSN.

Sony seem to have worked out how to get the security tighter than a fat mans trousers. Hopefully (like the trousers) it will split open at the seams some time soon and we can all go ahead with emuators, backups etc on our 4.0+ machines, but it is not looking good.


You have to remember that the architecture of the PS3 is unique, different from the Wii, 360 and PSP. So the fact that those machines are cracked and can play backups, emulators etc has really nothing to do with the PS3, it's a totally different battle, that unfortunately Sony are winning.

We're pinned down for now, but something shall come up.

But I also heard that the psp and ps3 systems were similar, I always thought it should've been as easy to crack, guess I was wrong. But still, it isn't impossible, we've come so far, we can continue.

Well i too hoped my ps3 would be a great emulator. I got it on december 2010 after it got jailbreaked.I was hoping for a decent psone and a nintendo 64 emulator at least but it didn't happen. (well psone partly because of cobra dongle and psn psone games, i nearly covered all of what i want to play except street fighter ex plus alpha and 2)

I am still happy with my purchase. I can play dmc 4, super street fighter 4, GT 5, American Mcgee's Alice on it. There is FBA next emulator which gives me hundreds of great arcade games (well i still remember how much money i spent and how much fun i had on the arcades)

I watch a lot of DVDs. With its hdmi output and upscale abilities i enjoy hi-def like picture on my 55 inch TV. I can control the DVD menu with my tv remote (no need for ps3 controller) thanks to the hdmi-cec abilities of PS3.

Lately i am hooked to psn games. For example Deathspank is a great little find for me. Just the perfect hack and slash. Reminds me of diablo II with a more cartoonish environment and game style.

What i am trying to say is don't wait for PES 2012 or Batman Akham City impatiently, try to enjoy psn games, arcade games, psone games or SNES classics.

It would still be good if the PS3 is the perfect emulator or we could play all the latest games but in the end we are not missing much. For me cracking of DLCs and PSN,PSOne games was a much better surprise than cracking of 3.55+ games. New games are really overrated.

You could say that politely, no need for the fingers. And I don't see a reason to buy an x360, I have a powerful pc, only thing I couldn't play from the 3.55+ list was the Uncharted 3, and we can play it now. The thing is, there is appearently a problem, and it isn't going to fix itself, so I'm looking for a logical explanataion, then I can help for a solution. Seriously, don't you have anything to do but leaving meaningless negative comments on every topic, it's getting old quickly, please try not to do that. If you're not interested or don't have anything to say, don't say anything.

What should YOU do?
Stop jumping in and going all ad hominem on people who speak the truth about the scene. If you are happy with the way things are, good. It's your right. But it's also our right to say how ****ty is the scene right now. Especially when compared with the other scenes. After all, nobody asked/forced you to participate in this thread

Also: NOBODY will play ALL the ps3 games. Will you? Not to mention that a lot of them are also on Xbox. Don't forget that lots of them are crap and in the end, no one likes all the game genres. Don't you people ever get tired of using this same old argument?
