Lightbulb [HELP NEEDED]Request for Blackotoo(or anyone who has the knowledge to do this)

Well, since you(Blackotoo) seem to have PMs disabled I'll have to post it here i guess.

I've been told that you know how to convert eboots to .pkg (or you have some knowledge in this)

i was wondering if you would like to help me/tell me how to do that, because i'm trying to install eboots (as pkgs) and launch the games from XMB, then update to 4.00 and see if the games still launch or not.

I heard that there had been some people claiming to have successfully done this on 3.60-3.73 (not sure bout 3.73), and i dont think it was patched because there weren't any tutorials made, or this "method" (?) wasnt hyped very much by anyone...

So yeah, please take this into consideration.

The games which eboots I'm trying to get into .pkg are the following:
    -Battlefield Bad Company 2
    -FIFA 2011
    -GTA IV
    -MotorStorm: Apocalypse
    -Call of Duty: Black Ops
-Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
-Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time

    Thanks for reading this!

If anyone is going to try this do it at your own risk! This has not been confirmed working on ofw4.00 and it wont be my fault if you "accidentally" lose all your games!

I believe Superboy installed a bunch of Duplex games (aka, via .pkg) and then went OFW, the games showed but when he tried to launch them he got a blackscreen. Try pm'in him, didnt see him around lately.

did he install psn games, or normal games? because i dont think psn games always stop working when you update

the idea is to install the games as "psn games"(they'd appear on XMB as a psn game) and since they dont need to be activated ... im guessing they'll work.. but yeah that's the tricky part.

I'm willing to take the risk, because im planning on updating anyways.

thanks for replying man, the thread has like 84 views and you're the only one who replied, again, thanks +rep

I believe he installed PSN games. I have heard of this method before but I haven't seen a use for it so far (i just run games off my HDD). There must be some guides online...

Anyways, be careful with your plan, if you install those games (wont be less that say....60+gigs?) and then they DONT work, you'll be loosing some precious HDD space. And you dont have a file manager on OFW and i'm not sure if those games can be deleted normally?
Anyways you might have to do a format.

True, good point.. but, what's internal HDD space used for other than for DLC, saves and trophies(saves and trophies dont occupy much space...)?

and in case that happened i guess i could backup the saves and trophies and then format :p

    Ellow,
Amm you can easily do this by yourself.

Just use Deanks EbootMOD (ask google) and make a PSN installer for your game.

Be warned NOT all games work like this.

HDD space is used for storing game updates and some games require a MANDATORY data installation (sometimes 2+gigs), without enough free space you can't install and hence play some (rare) games. As you said, saves and trophies dont take much space, but DLC can be quite substantial (a few gigs too). So be careful

Yeah i got the multiman FULL and it brought those tools, but i didnt know which to use since it brought like .. 5+ apps
But how do you use it though??? (please bear with me im not an expert :S)

and of course i'm gonna test if they launch before updating.

EDIT: i found a tutorial on how to do this on ps3hax (found it on google.. i rarely use any other ps3 scene site :p) it said that i needed the ebootFIX app not the ebootMOD... i got both anyways though

EDIT: (again) when I try to convert it to pkg with ebootFIX it gives me an error...

    Ellow,
Its simple, from the multiMAN FULL pack, extract the multiMAN_[EBOOT_FIX].rar file.
Extract that in to a seperate folder, because if you use Extract Here it does not create a seperate folder (and the files are all over the place).

Once you have that, there are two files that are important:
    - ebootFIX.exe
    - ebootMOD.exe

    Youll be using ebootFIX.exe.

Now simply drag and drop your BLES/BLUS/BCES folder on top of ebootFIX.exe and let the tools do its magic.

You will get 2 new folders, one is tagged with RETAIL (you can delete) and the other is tagged with NPDRM and (HDD).
Thats the one you need. In there is the newly created .pkg for CFW 3.55 or FW 3.41 and install notes.

Read the install notes and use the pkg for your CFW.

ONLY possible for games up to FW 3.56!
And maybe FIXed FW 3.60 ones, havent tryed yet.

Okay, tried it with GTA IV and now when i launch it , the game says: "The Data is Corrupted, delete and reinstall your game to play it again"

and when i launch it from MultiMan it blackscreens now...

BTW i had to drag the game folder to ebootFIX because ebootMOD woudldnt do anything with it.
