Thread: Buying a new PS3. Suggestions needed.

Hi,
I will be buying a PS3 in a few days and i just wanted some suggestions or advice about what bundle or specific manufacture date i should go for. I have researched for a while now and I know that consoles with FW version >3.55 wont be jailbreakable. I searched a lot and cant find specific answers. All the suggestions that i found were more than 3 months old.
A shop nearby has a god of war 3 bundle ps3 not the special edition , the bundle one. does that version come with a fw version less than 3.55?? I will be buying the 160gb version but i just wanna know if it is anyhow possible to filter some possibilities to get the one with fw version <3.55??:help:

well all the ps3 as of nov. 2011 will be 3.56 or above hope that answers your question. the ps3 will bring the firmware of the time it was manufactured hope that answers

There are many ways to find a PS3 console that you can mod. Here are some steps you can take to make it a little easier for you in your search.


1. All brand new 120gb and 250gb slim PS3 models will have 3.50 or lower firmware right out of the box.


2. Naturally any new phat PS3 model will have lower firmware.


3. All 160gb and 320gb slim consoles will come with firmware higher than 3.55 and will also have a newer motherboard model CECH3xxx. As of right now this model can not be modded. (these are current models in the stores)


4. PS3 consoles with 3.56fw on models CECH2xxx and older can be downgraded with a chip like Progskeet. You can not downgrade below a firmware that the console originally had.


5. It is possible that the early 320gb PS3 move bundle console had firmware 3.55 but the odds are pretty 50/50.'


6. New 160gb and slim CECH25xx also came with firmware lower than 3.55 out of the box early on but in early 2011 they were coming out with 3.56+ firmware.


7. New consoles bundled with a game will have the same firmware as the game. So if you know the game released with a lower firmware then you know the console will have equal or less firmware.


Response by sonic_boom214: just want to say thank you to Lethal_NFS for providing me with this guide In response to #5. The Move bundle 320gb. Me and some family members all bought this bundle from Walmart (3 of them) They all had 3.55. We now have 3.55kmeaw and all is good.
