Default exploit to downgrade ps3 to base firmware (hopefully for 3.56+)

i accidently stumbled upon an exploit in the ps3 to downgrade my system to my base firmware which is 2.60. i thought this was news worthy because hopefully this will work on 3.56+, i haven't tried it because i had 3.55 when i did the exploit..anyways, what you do is go into the system recovery menu and go to system update and make sure you have your firmware on your flash drive (i had 3.55 but you might want to try a higher firmware just to see if it works) and just to let you know, i had my controller plugged into the first slot and my flash drive plugged into the second slot, i'm not sure if that matters but it's worth a shot. when i went to install the firmware, it got to around 65% and i unplugged the controller and what's weird is it restarted right away and told me that the hard drive was corrupt and it had to rebuild the database and after that, i was on 2.60 which is my base. here is video proof that i am now on 2.60 with homebrew and no install package files...

i'm going to try the exploit again and this time make a video of the actual exploit itself
(i wouldn't recommend if you're on 3.55 trying a higher firmware than that just in case it doesn't work the first time you try)

Seems far too simple and I fear plenty bricks may come from this.
If this works then bloody good job mate.

VERY ITERESTING!!! Please try it again, and report... You could also upload your exploit so someone else can try it with 3.56+...

That is the exploit. There is no program or anything I don't think.

Make a video of you doing it. Would be interesting if it works all the time but definitely could cause some bricks.

Also this isn't NEWS. (until confirmed)

it is if this works every time!! Could you imagine being able to update to ofw, sign in to psn, be able to download any games you want, play all the new games on retail disk, then be able to downgrade all over again to play cfw.....WITHOUT a hardware flasher!?!?!?

Anywho...yeah, this sounds risky...but the theory behind it is what intrigues me

and because itīs too risky, someone with a hardwareflasher should try it, if he confirms, that it wasnt a coincendence

i just did this. i was on 3.41.3 Rebug mode spoofed 4.0. just went to recovery mode, installed software update 3.40(my stock fw) and voila it works. i removed the cable as soon as the progress hit 38% and zoomed to 100%. i didn't get any filesystem errors requiring rebuild database
