can future ofw hacks kill ps3
hey i was thinking about the future of the ps3 and the hacking scene. what im trying to say, is it at best interest for us consumers to not want future ofw to get hacked. like saying well if you dont have a 3.55 you SOL. think about it imagine every ofw from now gets hacked and any noob with a flashdrive can hack the ps3 that could lead to the end of the ps3. i think the best for ps3 hacking should be at 3.55 ps3's and do some type of freeboot where you can update a future firmware but not actually updating, sorta like the jtag(freeboot). i personally think that xbox360 would be no more if the jtag hack did not get stopped by m$. what are your thoughts on this?

no i dont think it will end the ps3 at all
sony are to proud to give up

He's right. Sony is too proud to give up. This whole hacking thing started when Sony popped off at the mouth saying that their security was top of the line, and hack proof. Then when people prove them wrong easily, then they wanna sue. All of this could have been avoided if Sony didn't promise the consumers various features, take them away, and then punish the consumers who didn't want to lose what they spent their good, hard earned money to buy in the first place.
It's like buying a new car, with GPS, cruise control, and various other features, and then the manufactures coming to your home, and stealing your leather seats, power steering, cd player, and threatening to sue you if you replace them. It's straight up bull****.

Took them only about 3 years to hack the console. Easy as Pie I say! And about Sony being too proud to give up, then you can say the same about every other game company out there? I mean Ninty and SE still try to add security patches to their games, only to get hacked within the hour of the game being leaked/released.

It certainly didn't kill the Wii, neither the DS... Also, the piracy didn't kill the PS2. So I would say "rest assured", but it is arguable that it might have killed the PSP, though.
Also, the Jtag example you gave is, in the very least, inconsistent, because in the end of the day, you are still updating to a newer firmware with the same functionalities of the original one, no matter if it's a rebooter or not.

hacking just makes devs more stubbon to fight back. after all who wants to lose a multi billion dollar income. piracy/hacking kills nothing. you have to remember that after the millions of consoles sold every year there is only a small % that hack/pirate their consoles.
Exhibit this in the courtroom.....
Go on do it I dare you!!

hacking a ps3 and a wii is in no way close to a jtag. we talking about any stupid noob that is atleast 5 years old can hack a ps3. not everyone can do a jtag and not everyone can get there hands on a jtagable xbox these days.
ps3 jailbreak is making some noise now thanks to sony. imagine how it will be 2 years from now when EVERYONE KNOWS about the ps3 jailbreak and how easy it is to do. but thats 2 years im talking here. jtag hack was not around for that long untill m$ patched it.

well the wii is easy to hack(just an sd card) and the psp pandora and the mem stick and without pandora too and btw theres alot of ppl without pc or internet....and playstation fans? the world is toooo big!! soo the hacking scene only takes like 20% of their $ maybe less
