Thread: Wtf Is With This Message?

Ok so I started to watch the first release of Paul on my Ps3 and a couple of minutes in I get a message telling me that it is copyrighted meterial and it cannot be played on a PS3 system.
Now this is my CFW PS3 so it isn't connected online or anything so how the hell does the PS3 know that a movie that was downloaded and released long after this PS3 had been ever been online is copyrighted?
Is big brother really watching us? Are they watching my every move through my Ps3 eye toy?
The mind boggles.
Btw I tried to post a pic of the message but it showed up as corrupt every time for some reason.

thats happend to me a few times.

i just end up plugging laptop into tv via hdmi

on a few films ive been watching the sound cuts out and it displays a message saying this copyright bla bla

So there must be something encoded in the rip which tells the PS3 it's naughty naughty.
Otherwise how does the PS3 know?

Yes there is a little sound embedded into the video that blu ray player can only detect even if your playing it from external HDD. I know its in Social Network & Salt sound will cut off 30mins later

I don't know how it picked anything up cos the sound was terrible co it was a very poor cam.

I remember someone telling me it does it with cams and screeners all i can gather it is that cinavia protection.
Get the newest mkv2vob and upon start up it tells you the settings to use to get around the cinavia protection.

today i woke up and went to watch the last 3 episodes of FLCL on my ps3 thru my orb media server and got an error (800288d8)... last night i just watched the first three episodes with no issues...

so bassicly.. last night i watch three epsisodes of this show.. on media server.. i turn off system, turn off tv.. my PC gets left on... i have made no changes or anything since it worked.. i wake up have breakfast and goto watch the last three episodes while eating.. and nothing but this error... what gives? is sony attacking its users that remain on CFW by disabling feature they can use without psn? in the end making it harder for us to go without?

you guys are all on meth and paranoid as hell... i can picture you wierdo's listening for this imaginary high pitch sound that the ps3 listens for as a command to cut your audio out lol. just listen to the damn movie!

some screeners just have crap audio that will cut out... read the comments and make sure other downloaders have reported its a working copy.

as to the guy saying an actual PS3 system message popped up but then he couldn't take a picture of the mythical beast because it kept corrupting the cam files... I cannot believe him at all... if he can't work a camera... how could you give him any credibility.

Some screeners will also have a "This screener property of so and so... this is not for sale" that will come up and stay for a few mins then go away. This is all just part of the screener.

Lay off the meth ya damn conspiracy theorists...

Actually the ps3 does have a copy protection scheme built in. If u go forward 1.5 speed, you will notice the message doesnt come up. Even if the sound is crap, TS or similar, it still picks it up. No conspiracy theory here. Sony uses Cinavia to protect copyrighted content.

I watch hundreds of movies on tv shows on my ps3 and 360 through tversity and ps3 media server and have never had anything like this happen. I guess I'm just lucky or maybe it's because I stick to scene releases mostly and don't watch cams
