    I was thinking about buying a new ps3, does anyone know what firmware a new console would have on it at the moment
    as you can probably tell I am new to ps3's

    depends what size HD your getting i bought a 320gb version the other day and it was 3.4fw

    120gb and 320gb slims have 3.40 fw anything higher has 3.42

    i gonna get 320 gb bundle one from costco. just contacted them today, you are allowed to return it after its opened. you can get full refund.

    I also contact amazon, but htey will charge u 20% restocking fee. sux.
