Thread: Question:External HDD & Game Compatability

I've decided to go ahead and jailbreak my PS3. I'm not gonna lie, the first thing I was thinking about was pirating as many games as I could. So I installed the Backup Manager as well as the FTP Server.

I looked on Google for a list of games compatible with the Backup Manager and I found this: https://spreadsheets.google.com/lv?k...w&toomany=true

On that list it shows a number of games compatible with the Backup Manager. Now, my question is, why do some games not work when loaded off an External HDD?

The games uploaded and posted on this site contradict the list on that sheet. For instance, Killzone 2 is posted on this site, and I plan on downloading it, yet, on that Google sheet it says that Killzone 2 cannot be played through an External HDD. But then again isn't an External HDD the only way to play a game downloaded from this site?

If anyone knows what I'm talking about please give me a heads up.

Killzone only works on the Internal drive. You can put games on the internal drive through FTP server. The Reason it doesn't work on an ecternal (along with alot of other games) is because of the file size. Your external will have to be in FAT32 Format and FAT32 can't read files bigger than 4gb.

yeah the only reason why some of the games cant be played off the external harddrive is due to the fat32 oversized 4gb limit ( i know its dumb :/ ) but it doesnt really matter because you can just transfer ftp via / backup your games disk to the internal harddrive. my suggestion is just buy/updrade your hd to a 1tb harddrive for the ps3 :D doesnt cost that much if you're totaling the expense if you were to buy the games alone

make sure if your buying an internal hdd for your ps3 it has to be a 2.5'' and be 9.5mm thick so 1tb hdd dont fit because its 12.5mm unless u want to hard mod your ps3 case
