    The only way to capture the ps3 using the hdmi is to use a program like Camtasia screen recording, no recording software will allow the recording of HDMi because of the protection, you can record no problems using Component Cables for HD at most 1080I, or you can use Audio / Video cable (Red, white and yellow). Total Media will record great, it has settings for both Xbox and PS3.
