PSP or PS VITA?
We've been talkin about vita lately, some people have doubts because of the selling in japan (which was very low, compared to the 3ds, even the psp selled more). We still don't know if it's going to be a hombrew heaven like psp. And we still do not have any idead when it is going to get hacked. Even if it gets hacked is it going to be able to play all the psp games, including japanese games? We know that it can play PS1 classics just like the psp does, but does it have PS2 compatibility? There are already some hombrew games, but...
What I'm acutally trying to say is, is PS VITA worth to wait for hack? There are so many things to do with a psp, but PS VITA is very tempting, even if it doesn't have the greatest launch titles, there are going to be many games. And it upscales the psp games and adds a second analog support to some of them, like MGS: Peace Walker and Parasite Eve. There is also a possibility that it will play ps2 classics.
On the other hand Hacking PS3 took 4 years (more or less), and it seemed like this handheld has more security.
So, no fanboyism again. Is it smart to wait for vita?
EDIT: PSP is still not very cheap.

I would wait for the PSVita hack before i'll buy it.
I've got already a PSP but it's bricked :D, but ever
I didn't played with it so much because it was boring to play it every time.
Please, give me +REP if I was helpful, by clicking the

This is the $350.00 question, I too am in the same boat, At first I was adamant about not getting one, then I saw the sales drop in Japan. But then again I am not a fan of the 3DS, I like my PSP and what it can with the ISO & Homebrew....but the one thing that make me say I should get it is looking at $ony's History for every system the 1st generation of it is always better (PSP 1000 can run everything) the Original PS2 could support the External Hard-Drive) and not to forget the the Original PS3 look at what all they took from that. for me If I decide to get it, I will get the first wave b4 $ony's cheap azz starting to gut the vita like the PS3

Here are some of my doubts:
1. We still do not have information about region, psvita might not be region free. Considering that the more than half of the good games come from japan on handhelds consoles.
2. There is the matter of touchscreen, I do not want to play any games using the touch-screen and if it doesn't have full button support for all games. It's another disappointment.
3. Also there is the matter of emulation. Of course a handheld will have limited emulation. And I do not care about most of the retro consoles, but supporting gba and n64 was very nice for psp. I wonder will we have good emulators with vita.
4. There is also the matter of psn support. Which psn games will it support? Just ps1 titles? or ps2 titles as well?
5. How long will it take? I'm certainly not planning to buy it unless it gets hacked. One2thr456svn, you are right, but I suspect they'll be able to remove some of the feautres from a handheld, and as far as I know all the psp versions are able to play all released games with the latest cfw.
6. Also psp was successful in other media such as reading comics and watching videos, can you read comics on vita?
I'm not a fan of shooters but the second analog seems really important, because it doesn't just provide support for aiming it also adjusts the camera, since I never had a handheld, I do not know muc about the controls. But you, One2thr456svn as a psp owner may have played MGS: Portable ops, Peace Walker or Dissidia games, are these games easy to control with only one analog stick. Are these titles alone are worth to get a handheld? Will they be fun even if I'm a tv console player?

i doubt psvita will overcome the early psp in any way,at least for me.
i mean, all those touch controls,3g and games that really don't appeal me...
no real innovation for me,just a mix of random and standard thing,i'll stick to my fatties, they sure can cook!

Well that's a rough question & this is why PS Vita:Graphics & low prices with extraordinary gameplay & definitely extreme security since it's a new console. PSP:No security"Jailbreak" & only a handful of awesome games to play. so if U wanna get anything I suggest U to get PS Vita for it's features & be patient, everything will get pwned in the end.
People evolve while the world revolves.

I prefer playing handheld games on a touchscreen, so I'll probably get a Vita regardless of a jailbreak. Playing games on my Ipod touch is so much more fluid than with my PSP.

The smart pirate would wait for the hack and then buy it.
The smart consumer would wait years when the price is down and many games are available for it at a low cost.
There is no benefit to buying a handheld on day one unless you are impatient and "must have it now."

It's not that expensive. I think $249 for the wi-fi only model?

It's not about the price, once it gets hacked you'll only pay once, so the thing is. Is it worth the wait? That's what we're discussing
