Should We Trust Game Reviews?
Well, I've been thinking about this lately. I usually check a games score from ign and gamespot before playing it. Most of the time the reviews seem right, I mean if they say the game is good, the game is probably good, but when they give it a 5.0 or 6.0 score it may not be that bad. For example,:
El Shaddai got a 5.0 from IGN, and I played it, enjoyed it, loved the graphics and art style.
IGN gave Transformers 9.5 , And I have to say, I think it wasn't as good as uncharted or god of war (I'm not comparing them, but these games got lower scores than a medicore franchise game).
So, should we really trust reviewers? Or should we just play whatever seems nice? I'd like to know if I'm missing some underrated games? For example I'm planning to play "NIER" but it got a 7.0 from IGN and 5.0 from Gamespot. What do you suggest?

get reviews for a game you are interested in in a lot of places and not just one or two. THEN and only then can you get a feel of a game based on reviews.

Everyone has their own opinion of what is fun in a game but if a reviewer points out a bunch of flaws that make the game not enjoyable they're usually right. I never go by reviews of games before I try them but I will look up reviews to see if people have the same feelings about a game as I do if it is a bad experience.
SAW II for example. The combat in that game ruined the whole game and I never played it again but the combat in SAW I was fine. Of course I gave SAW II a try based on the good experience I had in SAW I but was a mistake. I thought the combat in SAW II just killed the game and then I looked and the reviewers said the same thing.

absolutely not. especially ign. essentially it goes to who pays the most. For example GTA4 ****ing 10?A 10?10?really?on ps3?where visuals are blurry framerate choppy (god forbid you are in an explosion)and controls arent always working. Overall its a good game but a ****ing 10!?
But seriously IGN is worst,so many suspicious and biased reviews. Also everyone have different taste so to not review games by at least two reviewers is unprofessional and offending to game developers. And ign hates Japanese games thats why el shaddai got 5 out of 10. They gave Yakuza 4 a 6.5?Gamespot just hates game that wont advertise on their site.

Thats right what Blackotoo said. If i like a game, not everyone like it. If i hate a game, not everyone hate it. If you want to get a game but you're not sure if it's worth to buy/download it, search on you youtube for some gameplay videos and you will see if its good or not.
+rep if i helped you

Yeah, what bosko98 said. Most game review sites are bought and paid for long before they ever "reviewed" the games they get. Of course they'll never admit to it, but it's so obvious it's sickening.

i think most game reviewers are biased depending on how much they're payed(not sure how it works exactly).
a while ago, i remember reading about a game(star wars attack of the clones i think), which one reviewer(from a big company) gave a game 8 out of 10, while the rest were giving it 1-3, turns out he'd been given a week to spend in some star-wars-exclusive-theme park while reviewing the game
in the rare chance that i said something of use... would you consider a +rep?
