    Default Good games for a first time PS3 owner?

    As the title says, I just got my first PS3 and am looking for some good games to play. I had a 360 so I am really looking for PS3 specific games. My budget is around 50 bucks, and I'd like to get two games.

    I'm leaning toward Little Big Planet and either Uncharted 1 or Heavy rain (all are 20 at gamestop)

    Do these seem like good games to start with, or is there a "must play" game that I don't know about?

    Infamous is one PS exclusive that I can definitely recommend, but its a Superhero action RPG so that might not suit your gaming style.Little Big Planet is cool but its pretty childish, and not mechanically fun like Mario. Heavy Rain is cool , but you do a lot of mundane things ie chat and brush your teeth in the game. I really love Metal Gear Solid 4, but if you don't like overly-dramatic macho-men I can understand that. Disgaea 3 & 4 are exclusive to the PS3 if you like battlefield strategy RPGs, I like Valkyria Chronicles as well, so maybe check out a youtube of those titles. Demons Souls is the most brutally punishing RPG ever, the predecessor of Dark Souls. What kind of games do you like? For 50$ you may just want to get a bunch of PSN titles?

    i'd really really suggest UnCharted series ...
    plus MGS4
    and if you like InFamous ...
    if you are on ofw 4.11 or something , play twisted metal (if you do care for online \ action vehicle game )

    it's old ... now i have like 220 bronze ... 20 silver ... 5 gold ... and almost a plat:D

    Depends what genre you are...i'd recommend these ones anyway
    Motorstorm
    Ratchet and clank
    Infamous
    Killzone
    God of war 3
    Gran turismo 5
    Little big planet
    and obviously uncharted!

    heavy rain is ιη*°§#@][@#!!! LOL ...if you want to check some psn's:
    flower
    super rub a dub
    smash cars

    that's more or less the best you can get on ps3 i think,enjoy :D !

    Thank's for all the input. I think i'll get Uncharted and LBP for the kids (although I want to play it too) and pick up Infamous the next time I can spare 20 bucks.

    I would vote for God Of War 3 first of all, its a must have game with the stunniest anime graphics i have ever seen on a machine
    Then u should also check the Red Dead Redemption and the Batman Arkham Asylum (much cheaper) + Batman Arkham City
    Among the FPS Killzone 2 or 3 (3 has better graphics and much easier) is a must
    And for sure the Uncharted series: the first being the most difficult one, the second the most balanced one concerning difficulty and graphics, while the 3rd is the easiest but with astonishing graphics

    all the games listed by the fellow members are great
    personally i would pick mgs 4,uncharted,gow 3 or batman
    if ur into fps check out resistance fall of man

    [PROTOTYPE] will always be my #1 recommendation out of the thousand games I have played for PS3.

    My question is though, is your PS3 updated or is it jailbroken since you're asking here?

    If it is updated, I'd say buy [PROTOTYPE] and one of the Uncharted games or substitue Uncharted for a good FPS like Killzone 3.

    If it is jailbroken, skip buying any used games, pick up a 30 day premium membership from any file host for only $10 that has tons of games there that you can download within 30 days. (probably can get at least 50) Use the other $40 for pizza, pop, beer, a dime bag or whatever you fancy to enjoy those games.
