Thread: How to play Swap Magic-loaded games online

NOTE: IF YOU TRY AND PLAY ONLINE WITH A BACKUP GAME THAT HAS A REGION THAT DOES NOT MATCH YOUR PS2, YOU WILL GET KICKED OFF SONY'S SERVERS, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO GO ONLINE WITH ANY GAME!! Just a word of warning, e.g. don't try and go online with a pal game on a ntsc ps2 or any other combination except ntsc game to ntsc ps2 and pal game to pal ps2.
You'll need:
WinDIP: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NO4V05TP this uploaded version is 1.7, google it just in case a newer version has come out
DNAS ID list: see attached files
ISO of game you want to go online with.

1) Download Windip and the dnas id list.
2) Pick NTSC.txt or PAL.txt depending whether the region of the game is PAL or NTSC
*To avoid breaking almost every single piracy law in the world, the region of the game should match the region of the console. I won't help with e.g. running a pal game online with a ntsc ps2. Your ps2 WILL be banned from playing anything online if you try other-region games online on your ps2.
3) Look for your game in either ntsc.txt or pal.txt. If it's there, take a note of the id just under it and skip to step 8. If it's not there steps 4 to 7 will help you get the id from the original game. It has to be an original if the game isn't in ntsc/pal.txt :( a backup will basically show up crap when you try steps 4-7 but with a backup.
4) Download the paradox online id grabber http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2ZBXDW54
5) Burn it to a dvd to load with swap magic dvd - don't waste a high quality dvd+/-r on it, just use a crappy one if you can as you will most likely only need it once or twice
6) Load the grabber in swap magic
7) When a screen with text shows up, take out the burnt grabber disc and put in the original game and press X. Blue text should come up. Press X a few more times to make sure it's correct. Copy the blue text down on paper or whatever. Only copy down the last 3 hex figures, e.g. if the id shown was 00 01 02 03 04 then I'd leave out the 00 and 01 (if you get the id from ntsc/pal.txt the 1st 2 values will already be blanked using XX XX)
8)Download Windip if you haven't and open it
9) Click select image and browse to your iso
10) Click scan file
11) When it finishes scanning (should only take ~5 seconds) click verify version
12) When that finishes, the 5 boxes on the right should be white and you can type stuff into them
13) In the 1st 2 boxes, type in any random hex value, e.g. FF F0 or whatever. In those boxes you can type any value from A to F and/or 0 to 9.
14) In the last 3 boxes type in the values you got from the paradox id grabber or the ntsc/pal.txt (obviously if you use the txt files, leave out the XX XX at the beginning)
15) Click Patch and burn however you normally would!!


If the disc won't load with swap magic or you can't get online,
16) open up windip again, browse to the iso, click scan file, click verify version and click unpatch. Then try again. Or just burn your now unpatched disc, but you won't be able to go online with it.

You didn't patch it right, read the instructions step by step. Specifically 2 and 3, AR Max isn't in either list so it's impossible to patch it.
