Default Tutorial - Installing and using Swap Magic for Slim PS2s - The Easy Way

Okay. Instead of buying and installing those silly Magic switch things or fliptops, I've found an easier and cheaper way. Note that this will Void your warranty. If you dont want to do so, dont read on. This is obviously a mod for a ps2 Slimline, this isnt possible to do with the fat ps2.

So, lets get cracking. What you need is:

    - A slimline PS2
    - Swap Magic
    - Phillips head screwdriver
    - Blue tack
    - A Brain
    - 10 minutes of your time

Before you start unscrewing your PS2 I suggest getting a cup to put the screws in. Like this:

Okay now thats out of the way, we should start by opening up the PS2. Turn it upside down and remove the covers for the screws. Like so:

Once all the screws are removed take the two cases apart. Its should look like this:

The first thing we want to do is to get rid of that thing that stops the disc from spinning whenever the lid is opened. So we need to locate the screw which is connecting it to the ps2. It is the big one in the middle:

We need to unsrew this. Now open the lid and fiddle with it until becomes unattached. We dont need this anymore, so throw it away. If you want to keep it you can but theres no need.

This is what it should look like before:

And this is what it should look like after:

Now thats over with, we should move onto the base. (were the motherboard is located, if you didnt know )
We have to block the sensors. The first sensor is located on top of the power switch:

And the second sensor is at the back of the console on the left side of the laser:

Now what we want to do is take a small chunk of blue tack and cover these sensors. Some people prefer to use sticky tape but I find that too fiddly and can loose its stick pretty easily. Its should look like this when its done.

    Sensor 1:

    Sensor 2:

Make sure its nice and tight. After thats all done we need to put the console back together. Close up the two halves, get the screws and screw them back into place. Like so:

Now hook it up for testing. If succesful, the disc should spin without the lid being closed. Pop in your swap magic

    Load it up

Put in your copy/back-up/import. In this case im using a copy of Final Fantasy X.

    And play.

    Easy peasy.

This tutorial was made and brought to you by fearlessturk (me). I will also not take any responsibility if this goes wrong for you (although its almost impossible to go wrong because its so easy) You do so at your own risk. If you have any questions please feel free to ask and if you have any ideas where you think improvement is needed, let me know. Oh one more thing, Karma please .

Blue tack is easier to use because its quite heavy duty compared to something like sticky tape. Its also not as fiddly. As for the red circles, im on it right now .
