If you want to use it as an external USB device it needs to be formatted to FAT32, you will need a SATA to USB adapter cable with its own power supply, search on Google for a program that will format it to FAT32. If you want to use it as an internal HDD and have a SATA network adapter or a modified IDE network adapter it needs to be formatted to PFS, you can do this on your computer with the program Winhiip or on the PS2 with the program HDLoader.
